End 2019 Strong Transformation Challenge WINNER Nickola Shares Her Story

At the end of the summer, customer Nickola decided to take part in our End 2019 Strong Transformation Challenge. Fast forward to December and she lost 2st 3lbs, dropped 2.5 dress sizes and WON £1000 cash!

Following her win, we caught up with Nickola, who shares her story, how her life has changed and her words of wisdom for anyone thinking about starting our plan.

Here is what she had to say…

Nickola, why did you decide to take part in the End 2019 Transformation Challenge?

I decided to take part in the challenge because I saw so many other people taking part in the Secret Slimmers Facebook group. I was afraid to take part in the challenge because I had so much to lose and I was afraid to post my “before” photos as I was ashamed. I was inspired by others who had as much or more then I had to lose posting their photos and getting involved.

I think the challenge absolutely helped me stay motivated as I put the posters on my fridge where I could see them every day and remind myself that I wanted to end 2019 strong!

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since taking part in the End 2019 Transformation Challenge?

This is a tough one because I learned so many lessons on my journey so far.

I learned that weight loss is truly a journey of ups and downs. I learned that people go through the same emotions and feelings as I do which was very comforting. The biggest lesson I think I took away from this particular challenge and from all those who entered this challenge with me was how life changing it is to lose some weight and how much better I could feel about myself having only lost a small amount so far in my journey.

Describe how you felt before you started the plan?

I was feeling quite desperate. I felt alone and unable to physically cope with my size. It felt like a disability most of the time. Not being able to do simple things like get down on the floor with my kids, going between tables in a restaurant, fitting in doors of public restrooms when out and about. Literally everything about my daily life was a struggle. I felt I had gotten to a size that I wasn’t sure I could come back from. I felt scared about my health and worried about how my life was going to be.

How did you discover The New You Plan?

It had been mentioned to me by a friend years ago and at the time I wasn’t ready for it. When the time came and I’d finally had enough, I remembered the conversation we’d had and decided to get in touch again and ask more about the plan!

How has the plan changed your life? How has your health improved?

Oooh, this will be a long one!

My whole mindset around food has changed. It’s been like a brain reset when it comes to food nutrition and dieting. I never thought my mindset could be changed, ever, and it has. I am able to walk comfortability and much faster, play with my kids, walk to the shops, getting in and out of the car with ease, sit in small chairs and small places… The list is endless. My skin has improved, my mental health has improved. I am just feeling amazing all-round.

What was your biggest motivator in staying on track?

My biggest motivator staying on track was remembering how I felt being so big and remembering all the things I couldn’t do and loving all the things I now can do. I’m imagining all the things I will be able to do by the end of my journey and how I will feel then. I have tried using my kids, my husband etc. as a motivator but it never worked in the past. I’ve realised that the single biggest motivating factor for me to lose weight is me being able to do ordinary things again. Being able to feel like a regular ‘normal’ person which I haven’t felt like for so long.

What’s your biggest non-scale victory?

My biggest non-scale victory so far has to be being able to shop in regular High Street stores again for the first time in years. I absolutely love not having to shop in plus size clothing shops and being restricted to frumpy, non-stylish clothes!

Since losing weight, what is your happiest memory / proudest moment?

This absolutely hands-down has to be the Christmas party night out with my mum-friends and wearing a gorgeous new outfit I had bought, and…. high heels! I felt incredible and all my friends were saying how amazing I looked and I just loved feeling like part of the gang again, not the odd one out who isn’t looking their best, who can hardly fit in the chair, who felt like the only failure amongst them. It was really a turning point for me.

What is the nicest compliment you’ve received since losing weight?

There isn’t really any one compliment I could pick out. There have been so many wonderful compliments but my neighbour recently said to me that I haven’t looked like this in 10 years and that she is amazed, and she is a very straight talking person so I always take her at her word. that stuck with me.

What are your favourite New You meals and snacks?

Oh this one is easy! I absolutely love the Chocolate Brownie and the Triple Cookie Cream Bar. I also love the Strawberry Bar, Curry Chicken Noodles, Crunchy Chocolate Caramel Musli, Pancakes, Shakes, Chicken Soup & alll the snacks!

What advice would you offer anyone thinking of starting the plan?

I would say just go for it. You have no idea how much your life will change so quickly on this plan. Within a week your body has adjusted and the energy and spring in your step is amazing! I’ve never tasted meal replacements with such a wide range of meals and the flavour can not be compared. The food is just so easy to switch on to, you’ll be surprised yourself! It’s the best support group on Facebook I’ve ever know and the team motivation is second to none. Just go for it! Xx
