Mavis’ Inspiring Journey from No Energy to Get Up and Go!

When Mavis began her journey with The New You Plan, she wasn’t just looking to lose weight, she was determined to take back control of her health, energy and confidence. After years of struggling and receiving a clear warning from her doctor, Mavis made the decision to put herself first.

Since starting the plan, she has lost an incredible 2 stone 6lbs, transforming not only how she looks, but how she feels every single day. From renewed energy and glowing health to a stronger connection with her family, Mavis’ journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when determination meets the right support.

In this interview, Mavis shares with our Community Manager, Rachael, about how she is now able to show up for her family and the determination it takes to accomplish your goals!

Getting Started – The Turning Point

Rachael: Hello Mavis. Huge congratulations on being a runner-up in the November–December Transformation Challenge and winning £1,000! How did you feel when you found out?

Mavis:
Amazing, especially in January!

Rachael: Where were you when you got the call?

Mavis:
I was in bed, and my husband was talking away when the phone rang. There was no name on the call, so I almost didn’t answer. My husband said, “Just pick it up, you never know.” I’m so glad I did!

Rachael: What first led you to The New You Plan?

Mavis:
I was struggling with my health. I had gestational diabetes that had progressed, and my doctor kept telling me that losing weight would really help and could keep me off insulin.

I saw The New You Plan on Facebook. What stood out straight away was that the images were real people, not AI or fake models. I’m quite technical, so I can spot AI instantly, and this felt genuine.

I decided to use a discount code and place my first order just to try it. What I liked the most was that I was never hungry. It’s proper food, you eat, you feel full, and you don’t feel deprived. I think I fell in love with the Vegetable Chilli!

Staying the course – the habits that changed everything

Rachael: What kept you going on the plan?

Mavis:
The variety. There’s so much choice like the risottos, chicken nuggets, pots, spaghetti bolognese. You honestly can’t get it wrong. And the different flavours of porridges are just class

If you don’t like one thing, there’s always something else. If you fancy burgers, there’s a burger mix. That’s why I stayed on plan, I never had a reason to say no.

The Facebook group helped a lot too. Seeing what other people were making gave me loads of ideas. I tried other people’s recipes and never once got bored.

Rachael: How important has water been on your journey?

Mavis:
Very important, honestly, one of the biggest parts of my success. I love the tropical water flavouring. By the time I’ve been to the gym and the sauna or steam room in the morning, I’ve already had about four litres of water.

The Cherry Lemonade Electrolyte hydration sachets helped too, especially when I’ve been sweating a lot. Drinking more water helped my energy, my skin, and kept hunger at bay.It even changed things for my whole family. I keep bottles of water with the flavouring in the fridge. My kids started drinking more water because they liked the flavours, and my daughter no longer needs medication she used to rely on.

You can really see the difference, especially in my skin, not just from the water but from the New You Glow supplements as well. Somebody said to me “Your skin is completely glowing”, and I told them it was because I had been taking the supplements and drinking water. It is a mixture of all parts of the plan.

From “Too Tired” to “Let’s Go!”

Rachael: You’re such a fitness inspiration in the community. How did that change?

Mavis:
Losing just a few kilos gave me so much energy. I can’t go a whole day now without moving my body. Food is 80% but it is so important to get that body moving and keep exercising.

Before, I couldn’t walk very far. Now I can walk 24 kilometres without feeling tired. It’s like the weight was replaced with energy. I feel like a completely different person.

Rachael: How has your transformation affected your family life?

Mavis:
It’s changed everything. When I was ill, I was exhausted all the time. Even simple things like laundry felt overwhelming, and I constantly had headaches.

Since starting this journey, the headaches are gone, and I never feel tired. My kids notice it and they tell me, “Mummy, don’t stop doing this.”

Now we go on walks together. I’m more present, more active, and really there for them. Those walks give them space to talk to me, and it’s brought us closer as a family. I honestly don’t want this feeling to ever end.

Rachael: Have you been back to the doctor since losing the weight?

Mavis:
Yes. When I came back from Spain, I went for a check-up. The doctor looked at the scales and said, “Whatever you’re doing, just keep doing it. You don’t need anything else.”

That’s exactly what they wanted to see.

Rachael: What advice would you give to someone just starting out?

Mavis:
Fall in love with drinking water. It changed everything for me including my skin, my hunger, my focus. It helps cleanse your body and keeps you on track and help keep you away from hunger and snacking.

And stay focused on your goal.

Rachael: What’s your favourite part of the Secret Slimmers community?

Mavis:
The support. I’ve never seen anything like it. Supportive, friendly, encouraging.

I didn’t post on Christmas Day, and someone messaged me just to check if I was okay, that meant so much. People know your name, encourage you, and genuinely care.I feel like I’ve known the people there forever.

Rachael: If you had to sum up your journey in one word?

Mavis:
Determination.
