[Customer Interview] Jonathan loses 103lbs* on TFR

Jonathan Started the New You Plan weighing in at 280lbs, he had no control over what he was eating, he was getting bigger and bigger but this was a man on a mission and he wanting nothing more than to be fit, healthy and happy with his body! Continue reading to see how Jonathon won his battle with his weight!!!

1. Mini Profile:

Hi Guys I am Jonathan Dunlop

2. How long have you been in the plan & how much weight have you lost?

I’ve used New You for the past three or four years on and off, but seriously for the last month or so. In 2009 I had joined a gym to try to become more healthy – I was 280lbs+ and very unhappy with my weight and general appearance. At my first session with a trainer I blacked out and came to 12 hours later in A&E. To say it focused my mind was an understatement. I knew I needed to lose weight for my health. A friend who was also struggling with their weight had been told of a TFR diet and we both tried it. I managed to lose 103 lbs* in 5 months and learned a great deal about weight control. I managed to maintain my much healthier weight quite well for a while. Another friend in the meantime discovered New You and I used their products to help with my maintenance. A couple of years ago we moved house and what with one thing and another my weight started to creep up. Before I knew it I was back up to 210 lbs or so and starting too feel much less healthy. I went back on TFR with New You and managed to get back to 180lbs. I’m currently on a short break with the family so did a refeed for a couple of weeks. On Monday I’m going back on TFR and hope to get down to 167lbs which is a supposed to be my “ideal” weight.

3. What led to you making the decision to take control & start the plan?

I have accepted that basically I have an addiction problem with food and it takes a huge constant effort for me top keep on top of it. New You’s products and more importantly the support and Facebook groups help me get back on track when things get difficult. I love the feeling of control TFR gives me and the fast results make the effort feel worthwhile.

4. How did being overweight make you feel?

Being overweight makes me feel UNHAPPY, UNHEALTHY, OUT OF CONTROL, WORTHLESS, STUPID, GREEDY, UNGRATEFUL, SELFISH and a hundred other negative things.

I hate it, and I hate myself when I am overweight. I have now accepted that those feelings are because of my addiction to certain foods (carb heavy food in particular) and that I will never be able to stop being responsible for what I eat.

My first TFR experience allowed me to believe that I would be somehow cured of my food issues but I now know that this is not possible. I will have to take control of my eating for the rest of my life. Now I have accepted that I can feel happy about it and stay in control!

5. How did you feel when you started the plan? How was the first week?

Starting the plan is exciting for me: I know it works and I know that in a few short days my body will be in a healthier, happier state and that I will see fantastic results.

6. When did you start to see results?

Within a week!

7. What was your first fist pump moment? How did it make you feel?

I get a pump moment every time the scales show a loss, and every time I have to make my belt a little tighter.

I think my first one was when I realised that for the first time in my adult life I could buy clothes I actually liked rather than ones that just happened to fit.

No more rooting around at the back of the rack in M&S for me!

8. What’s the nicest compliment you’ve received since reaching your target?12970441_10153694897403250_172343833_o

I think the best comments come from the friends I’ve made on the Secret Slimmers group on Facebook. They somehow always say the right thing and when I’ve had a wobble (there have been one or two) they can make you feel better straight away.

The nicest compliment is from people who have followed my example and become healthier and happier by taking control of their food issues. I have several friends who have been influenced by my experience and I am so pleased to have been involved a little bit in their success too.

9. Who or what is your biggest inspiration? 

My partner, family and friends are my biggest inspiration. I want to be around to spend active time with them for as long as I can.

10. What 3 words would you use to describe yourself before your weight loss?

1⃣ Fat

2⃣ Helpless

11. And what 3 words would you use now?

1⃣ Happy

2⃣ Healthy

3⃣ Fit

12. What 3 New You Plan Meals or Snacks can you not live without?

1⃣ Coconut bars

2⃣ Apple & cinnamon porridge

3⃣ Banana shakes.

13. What are your top tips for staying on track?

1⃣ Using NY for at least two meals a day when I need to lose a pound or two, and TFR if I need to lose more than half a stone.

2⃣ Keeping in touch with the Secret Slimmers and Maintainers’ groups on Facebook also keeps me focused.

14. What weight loss mantra do you live by?

15. What do you love most about the Secret Slimmers community?

The support and real friendship I feel helps enormously.

16. What advice would you give anyone considering starting the plan?

Get your head round it first, then get your blinkers on and just do it. Ignore the doubters, be determined to do it for yourself. It feels selfish and indulgent to spend so much time on yourself at first but getting yourself healthy and fit is the best way to spend time with your friends and family and to do things for others.
