#Muscle – Getting fit and healthy, means improving your body strength. Muscles also help your body to boost your metabolism. Toning and strength exercises are an important part of your healthy routines. You can do this through a way that appeals to you; from yoga and Pilates, to home exercise routine to you tube videos, to joining a gym or cross-fit class.

Guess what – the lovely Julie-Ann went to her first personal training session last Thursday for the first time in 8 years!!!

Mostly the session consisted of squats with weights, and then some more squats with weights…  #move, #muscle, #metabolism

 imagine encyclopedia kettlebell squat squats

Julie-Ann tells us how she felt:

I  really enjoyed it though and I am so glad to be started on this next chapter of my personal New You journey!

The personal trainer was talking about my weight loss goals, and she pretty shocked when I told her I have already lost over 7 stone! Even I can hardly believe it sometimes!

2 years ago I could barely walk and was going to physio! I couldn’t even carry my baby up and down the stairs…. now I am doing squats with weights!

A new season in my life, and I am excited to be ready… physically and mentally ready!  Bring it on!

All you have to do is Watch the Video and Answer the the Question below:

1) What are you going to do to build muscle this week?

Remember as long as you answer the above questions in the comment section below ⬇⬇⬇ you will be entered into the prize draw!!!

To continue building muscle this week I have upped my daily step goal to 15k steps per day and I have also started day 1 of my Couch to 5k running app. Bloody knackering but felt good after. I have also got myself a wee gadget to help me work my core muscles with sit ups and push ups etc. It’s definitely working as I can now zip up a coat I couldn’t zip up two weeks ago lol. Onwards and slimwards lol

As always I’m increasing my running, young swimming, Zumba class and as of next week I’m starting a body bootcamp which is gonna burn and tone all the hard areas that don’t wanna budge. I’m loving how I feel during and after exercise and my body is changing shape and getting firmer all the time. Xx

I have just completed a 21 day arm challenge to reduce my bat wings, increase my strength and tone/ find my muscles. I am doing it again with more weights
Today I have started two more 28 day challenges flat abs to reduce my now little belly and one to reduce fat surrounding my thighs, I have also doubled my kettle bell weight as my muscles are getting stronger. A trainer once told me that if you have good definition in your arms you waist looks smaller 😁
      Loving the transformation💪🏻

I’ve got the whole week (and hopefully the rest of my life) planned out. Monday, Friday and Saturday Karate classes, Tuesday and Friday exercise classes with women at school and treadmill whenever I can fit it in. As my husband is home for 2 weeks I am going to make the most of it.
We did Zumba today and I will be finding out about instructor courses. Love working out at the moment,

This week I happen to be on holiday, so my 3 poor little rescue dogs are wondering wot in the world is going on, as I am taking them lots of extra walks, starting first thing in the morning in the beautiful sunshine.
Its really helped me mentally this week, as well as physically, getting out early and hearing the birds.
Also, i have agreed to go to the gym for the first time with my power lifting mad son (its very much a man’s man gym).
Unlike a lot of others, i really WANT some muscle definition!

For me the NY plan isn’t about getting me skinny (that’s a plus) but it’s about allowing me to be able to get fitter at the same time.
I have started to exercise a lot more than I ever have before and that’s not just one form of exercise.
I run 4 times a week between 5/6k as this helps my cardio and builds the muscles in my legs. I also attend toning classes at the gym where I do weight and squats and the dreaded plank.
Each week has gotten easier and although my weight has t dropped off massively my body shape has changed and my clothes are looking better on me!!!!

I am so proud of doing new you. I have increased my fitness massively, never been able to run, but now I run 3 times a week, at least 10,000 steps everyday, resistence band for toning 4 times a week and now just enrolled in a 12 week yoga class for beginners. Without new you I could not have achieved this plus continue to achieve x

I go to the gym 4 times a week now thanks to my journey on the New You plan. For the month of May I have set myself a number of targets to help me build muscle. By the end of this month I will be able to run non stop for 20 minutes, do 10 60kg squats, hold a plank for 2 minutes, do 20 press ups and be well on my way to doing one pull up! My me, goal setting is the key, and pushing myself a little further each month is making a huge difference to my shape, my metabolism and my mindset. Get setting some goals and building some muscle! x

To build up my muscles I use my fit bit to count my steps each day. I also joined a local fitness class called powerwave. About three weeks ago. Using a weight combined with cardio exercise. I was unable to do sit ups when I started but now I can do at least 30 in a min holding the weight. The training combined with new you plan has had an amazing effect. I am more toned and feel much better in myself.
