UPDATE: What a difference a year makes*

I was looking through some photos and found a photograph that was taken last November 2011 when Isabella was 5 months old, and it made me realise just how far I have come in the last year. In this photo you can see the difference a year has made to me from November 2011 to November 2012.
I feel and look like a completely different person compared to last November, and I am so glad to be feeling “normal” again. I had a really hard pregnancy and developed a severe case of SPD Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction. This condition affects 1 in 4 women in pregnancy, and some more than others, unfortunately I suffered severely with it from early on in my pregnancy, I spent months in bed, and needed crutches just to get to the bathroom, I couldn’t even dress myself, and struggled with any normal task. 7% of people who get this condition experience problems after giving birth, I was one of these people, and my daughter was 9 months old before I went out with her on my own, my mobility was so badly impacted, everyday life was extremely hard. I still have some symptoms of the condition, but thankfully the condition and any pain I have now is very manageable and doesn’t effect my everyday life.
Last November I was wearing a size 20-22 and now I am wearing a size 10 top from Monsoon and size 10 jeans from Next. I am hoping to get to a size 8 before Christmas. 🙂
Whether you are starting out on a big transformation like I was last November, or whether you just want to drop a dress size or two before the end of the year, there really is no better time to start than now. Don’t put your health and well being off to the new year, start now and give yourself a head start so you can step into the new year know you are already on the right path to a slimmer healthier new you.
It can feel overwhelming if you have a lot of weight to lose, but just break it down into smaller goals, and plan some breaks along the way if that helps you to stay motivated. I lost most of my weight between January and May when I went from size 20 to size 12, and I had a few planned breaks during this time, I also took a break for the summer months, and I have just recently started back to get to my ultimate goal of being a size 8-10.
Always remember that your weight loss journey is not a race. Do it at a pace that suits you. The results are motivating and fast, but if you plan to have a nice holiday or break away then that will help you motivated too. You really want to do start you diet with the mindset that you are changing your lifestyle for good.
I started this time last year, and took a break for Christmas, so if you are feeling overwhelmed with your weight, and your health and well being is suffering don’t put it off to the new year, get started now, plan a wee break for Christmas and get back into it in the New Year. Once you get started you will feel so much better, just that feeling of taking control and being disciplined and seeing the results on the scales and in your clothes, will make you feel so proud of yourself.
