Team Tips Tuesday at The New You Plan
Set small goals and reward yourself
Welcome
It is Team Tips Tuesday here again at The New You Plan, today is all about being self motivated and self driven. Setting the right goals is important in that they will determine your overall results. Rewarding yourself in the correct manner for achieving the right goals is really important. This may sound silly but this is a lesson I have learnt from experience.
The Theory
Goals need to be set in such a way that they are both achievable and motivational. This means that the goals you set have to be well thought out!! I will always start small with guaranteed victories to get my confidence up and keep building – test your limits and then exceed your limitations gradually each time. If you know you can run a mile then run 1.1 miles… If you know you can drink 2l of water a day then drink 2.5l of water a day. A well planned goal should do two things therefore – firstly you should be capable of achieving the goal and secondly it should be far enough outside your comfort zone that once to attain the goal it will boost your confidence.
If you need a little more help in relation to plotting your goals a blog I did two weeks ago about tracking progress may help at this point clicking here and reviewing my blog from the 19th of November (Track Your Progress)
Rewarding yourself in the correct way is really important and I find there are two aspects to this. The first being that the reward has to be something that you do really want and need – false rewards produce false results! The second aspect of this is the rewards themselves have to reflect your overall goals. Again this may sound silly but rewarding yourself by hitting the weight loss targets by going out for a massive meal is not a reward that is goal aligned. A lavish dress you maybe have a guilty pleasure in desiring may work a little better as the confidence kick it will give is going to empower you even further.
The Task
Quite simply I want to hear of just one mini goal you have and the planed reward. The catch is I want you to put this into context. Why do you want the goal and why do you want the reward! Good luck and I look forward to reading your responses.
See you tomorrow 🙂
Kind regards
Grant
My goal is to achieve 9 stone!! Once I reach that I intend to treat myself to a whole new wardrobe , I’ve been hiding behind my weight for years!! Using it as an excuse for not going out etc and although I’ll never get those years back I intend to make most of the ones coming!!! So for this I’m going to need new clothes ha ha
That is a committed goal and reward Kathleen 🙂 good luck I am sure this will get you the results you need.
My goal was to get to 10 10 and be a 10!
I’m 2 lbs off 10 stone brack! Aggghhhhhh!
Treat for me is a new dress 🙂
However ………… Getting to this goal means not a single piece of clothing fits me anymore so means LOTS of new clothes!!!
Christmas is coming 🙂
Awesome Kelly, I had an image in my head of sheer excitement – this could not have happened at a better time. It is going to be one exciting Christmas for you!
My goal is to lose 3.5 stone by 13 dec, this is because before I go on refeed for Xmas it will make me a third of the way to my target x
This is great Wendy – it is very specific and creates good mile markers for you! 🙂 would love to hear the reward for getting there.
My mini goal is to lose 7lbs over the next 2-3 weeks. This will take me well into the next stone bracket, I’ll feel fab for Christmas and I’ll be less than a stone away from my goal!! When I reach it I’m planning on buying myself a new pair of converse to go with my skinny jeans that will finally fit me with no muffin tops!! 🙂 x
You are going to smash this Clare – you will most certainly be rocking the fashion with verve 😉
My goal is the 9sts and to fit into my new outfit and look good in it this will also be my treat good luck to everyone on reaching your mini goals xxx
This reward clearly is motivation enough Charlene – keep it up, I know you are going to smash this goal!
My goal is to lose 11lbs which will take me to my target weight and mwans a whopping 7stone loss. I have never ever been this skinny in my life and cannot wait to achieve this goal. Iv bought a beautiful dress to wear for goal which will also be hopefully on Christmas Day. Nothing is going to stop me now getting to target.
Woohoo Lorna, you have been on track to achieve this from the very start and it is so fantastic for us to see the end result! 🙂
My goal is to lose the 30 lbs before next Wednesday before I start refeed for Christmas period. I want to be able to wear my smaller clothing as the mini goal. I won’t be at the big goal of weight loss, but it’s a stepping stone in the right direction.
This is just what I was hoping to see Tara. Chase attainable targets with powerful rewards!! 🙂
My goal is to lose 8lbs before Christmas because this will take me into the next stone bracket and hopefully another dress size down.
I’m not ready to buy any new clothes yet, but this will give me a chance to throw out my big clothes and shuffle down into the clothes I have put away.
🙂
Super Wendy, so long as this is a reward you know in your heart you are going to work towards then it serves its purpose and the goal is most certainly within your reach at this point!
I had promised myself a new hair style after reaching 1 stone loss – which I did today, so will be having that done tomorrow 🙂
When I reach 21lbs loss I can have some new pants haha – didn’nt want to buy lots of clothes so thought this would be a nice treat for me and hubby 😉
Awesome Jo – I am sure this is going to motivate you and the new do will look great 🙂 I am sure the hubby will support you with achieving the overall goal 😉

my goal is to get into the 10s for christmas and my treat will be a new hairstyle and new wardrobe because i want to become the slim happy person i was before x
I am sure this is already yours Pauline – there is only a little time in between 🙂
I always use s.m.a.r.t goals:
Small, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely.
By setting goals in this way I have more chance of achieving them.
Small (one week/day at a time) I look at what I will lose that week rather than always focusing on my goal weight.
Measurable- speaks for itself, i.e. weight loss, keeping on plan, drinking enough fluids.
Attainable- the goals I set must be doable otherwise I will lose heat and not sustain them.
realistic- hey I’m not gonna be a super model but I am going to feel good when I look in the mirror, this is a long term life style change!!
Timely- set a time that is realistic to do this, get in the zone, and take re-feed breaks when advised.
It is working for me, I have over 8st lost since April 🙂
This is exactly right 🙂 One thing thought Shell I am really really excited to hear is…. what is the reward? 🙂 Thanks for all the support.
My health, my happiness, lovely clothes and pride in what I have achieved 🙂
Good answer Shell 🙂
My goal is to get back down to 9st 5lb before Christmas. I was this weight before my holiday last July. If I exceed this I will treat myself to a full facial treatment after Christmas.
I am sure you are going to get your facial treatment Linda 😉
My goal is a med to long term one! I’m going on holidays in August to Portugal and every year I say I will be at goal but I’m not!!
This year I so will be at my goal! And will reward myself by buying one hell of a sexy bikini!!!
Great goal and it is a reward that will give back to you when your confidence shoots through the roof! :)Good luck Deirdre!!
My goal is 3stone off my 12 week refeed is in 2 weeks and I want to loose 7llb to make it 3 stone before Christmas. Then I will set more mini goals in the new year to get the rest off hopefully by summer (I have quite a lot to loose)
My reward will be new clothes and a weekend away with my hubby I think- although he doesn’t know that yet
I loved this Brenda 🙂 I am sure it will not take much persuasion!
My mini goal is to lose another 7lb in a week after restarting on the plan today then ultimately a final stone to reach my main target which would mean a total weight loss of four stone. My main goal is to never buy or have to wear larger size clothes again and to feel good about myself rather than embarrassed about my size and to walk confidently into a room knowing I look and feel fab x
This is great Belinda 🙂 Small steps are attainable, would love to hear the reward.
My goal is to reach my weight loss goal in the next couple of weeks ,
My reward is to try on my Christmas dress & feel fabulous 🙂
You are going to get there Oonagh 🙂 you will have to post the photos in SS!
My mini goal is to achieve my 2 stone weight loss that I set for the Christmas Challenge. My reward will be knowing that I DID IT! 🙂 I then want to smash the refeed over Christmas and continue on my weight loss journey. In the New Year I would love to feel confident enough to get a new outfit, something at the minute I do not feel ready to do, even though I need to!!!! xxx
Have faith in yourself Aimee 🙂 a new outfit may give you a confidence boost but realising you have made it this far will show you just how awesome you are!
My mini goal is to have lost a stone by Xmas as part of the challenge.
10lbs down so far, refeeding though for a week and a half due to Xmas meals, so will need to work at it after that to get to a stone.
My reward will be to treat myself to something in the sales.
My Christmas goal is to be 10st BUT even if that is unattainable.. my goal is to look amas and to try to maintain the weight then till I get back on track in January 😉
