Thought for Thursday Week 3 | VLCD Mindset

23-01

Today’s quote:

‘Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines.’  Robert H. Schuller. On our VLCD program, managing your daily problems is a really important part of the toolbox to success on literally any form of weight loss or indeed fitness regime.

The reasons for the topic:

This quote has been chosen based on Tuesday’s task as I asked you to List three simple stresses in your life and three solutions to these stresses. My intention this week is to make the topic all about stress/problems and resolutions. Effectively by taking charge and acknowledging problems and stresses in your life you are opening a door to change.

It is important to define the difference between stress resolution and problem resolution. For instance some customers mentioned on Tuesday, the activities that they undertake to relieve stress, such as going for walks with the kids or the dogs, Tracy actually makes treats and goodies for her friends, and Caroline uses a hypnosis app to help her sleep. These are activities that allow people to constructively channel and vent their stress and everyone has done an amazing job in sharing here.

Then there is the other side of this, which is actually problem resolution to help combat the things that can lead to stress and make life difficult. In particular as we are a VLCD company I wanted to look in the problems that people face when doing a Total Food Replacement, VLCD plan such as our own. There were some truly awesome responses relating to these and this is intended to be the focus of today’s blog.

Common Problems on VLCD with simple solutions:

First one is grocery shopping, this can be a minefield of temptation. Just some of the solutions that our customers have already mentioned in relation to this problem are things such as online shopping, going shopping after having had one of your New You  products and lots of water to make sure that you are not hungry while shopping. Another was to use shopping lists which will ensure that you are focused on the task at hand when buying groceries.

Second is making meals for the family while on the plan. My own personal one here is to drink a large glass of water before making a meal as this helps you feel full and helps curb hunger. Another suggestion from Clare who uses ‘double the water and leaving them to simmer away on the hob while the main dinner is cooking. ‘ Also another top tip for a problem such as this is to turn the actual process into family time and get your kids to do the taste tests! Remember that any small amount of the wrong thing can impact ketosis.

Third one is socializing, which can be a tough one but again there are some really simple and effective tips to get ahead here. First one is to be the designated driver for the night , driving means no alcohol. If you are having coffee with friends then use one of our wafers as a tasty treat rather than turning to the calorie laden confectionery in the shop. Plan social events that revolve around activities that are in no way food related, i.e. going for walks which as mentioned above is its own form of stress relief 🙂

The conclusion: VLCD Mindset top tip

Every problem that you face on our plan will have a solution that either suits your or can be adapted to suit you.  Don’t allow anything you define as a problem turn into an excuse to stand in your way. Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines – in the case of a VLCD diet they a mere challenges that you can use to build a stronger you.
