January Challenge
My target by January 31st is 18 lbs less. I aim to start on January 2nd Looking forward to 2012 May you and all of my peer challengers Health and Happiness to spare for 2012.
Jan 6th will be my first stumbling block! January 6th is called the “Women’s Christmas” a tradition still very strong in Cork and Kerry is so called because of the Irish men taking on all the household duties for the day.[3] Most women hold parties or go out to celebrate the day with their friends, sisters, mothers, and aunts. Bars and restaurants serve mostly women and girls on this night.
However as you so rightly say there is no Rainbow without rain!

I would like to encourage you to stay focused on what your reason was for joining the January Challenge. It is a tough one for all of us, let no one tell you otherwise.
It doesn’t matter if you ‘fell off the wagon’, what matters is that you have the guts to get up and get back on again. Come on! We’re all in the same boat. I know you can do it. Also join the Secret Slimmers group on Facebook. Really a nice bunch encouraging each other and keeping you focused on the bigger picture.

Only started with my Challenge on 4 Jan. So will do first weigh-in next week.

Edel, I weighed in at 16,11 when I started. Yesterday was my first weigh in and down 7lbs!!! Now on 16,4st – 15st is crawling up on me and LOVE the excitement. Just the idea of being 1 lesser number drives me to be more determined NOT to cheat or give in. THINK FUTURE!! In a months time you will look back and laugh. I RACE YOU TO THE TOP ๐

I did zero carbs for a day or two before my first pack arrived and it helped, 18lbs down this week, many more to go.

Started by weighing in on Wed 4th Jan weight 14st7lb. i usually weigh in on Mondays so weighed this morning 9/1/12 lost 2 lbs so am going to continue weighing mondays from now on. hoping for better result next week. Got to get into the water drinking again.

i posted earlier then realised there are a few Lisas so i changed my name!just started 2day.had choc shake for breakfast, choc bar for lunch..both yum! does anyone hav any recommendations on which products they love? i didn’t order any hot meals as wasn’t sure if they’d be nice

Spicy spagetti is surprisingly really nice. Something hot you can have in the evening. Its just like having normal food, but you never get hungry! Its a working miracle. ๐ Good luck with your first week and seriously drink LOTS of water! x
must try the spaghetti so!wud be nice to hav hot meal now and then! not big water fan but kno i must..drank 2litres of water 2day..hoping to up that to 4litres by end of week!

I lost no weight in week 1 as I caved in every day at around 3pm when I finished work, which is my weak point in the day, so this week I am determined to be strong at this point and also in the evenings when I am making the childrenls school lunches I have to fight the urge to eat a lump of cheese.

Hi Lisa30 I just use the 3 meal replacements a day. But I have alot to loose and am desperate to get a good bit of it off fast. Hope you are doing ok.x
Hi Lisa30, you can take 3 or 4 products a day, just do what works best for you. Most people find having 1 bar a day at the most is best. So more shakes, soups, desserts, hot chocs are all very good for an extra product xx
I have had another great week, having already lost 18lb in week one. On the 4th jan I started this at 22st2lb and went to 20,12 in a week. And today I am 20,02, another 10lb down. Obviously being so heavy (and male) makes a big start possible. It’s hard for me to believe I will wake up in a day or two and be 19st something …….

Week 3 – Lost 2.5lb (Forever)!!! Hurray! I’m really happy with this as I didn’t feel Id lost much due to the antibiotics I’ve been on since last Friday. BMI has crept into the healthy range at 25.1 and best of all, my wedding ring fits after 2 years!!! โฅ
A healthy BMI is amazing and I am so happy for you about your wedding ring (are you doing that thing when you put your hand out in front of you and gaze at your ring like you used to when you first got it?) Sorry lads for not posting last night, my internet was down last night. I did weigh myself yesterday morning and I was 11 lb’s lighter than the week before. Am I glad to be back on track. I know that itโs my first week but I really need a boost.

If you imagine 1lb of butter or sugar then multiply that by 11……. quite the achievement?? Week 2 weigh in gained 2 pounds very upset
Oh Sandi dont be upset honey!! If you have followed the diet 100% you will not have put on weight! Sometimes our bodies just fluctuate with body fluids etc. Here are some tips for you to help you get a good loss for next week…
1.) Go liquid only – shakes & soups
2.) Drink at least 2-4 litres of water a day – it helps your body burn fat
3.) Have you been to the loo? Get a senokat if you havent
4.) Don’t give up and SMILE!!! You are moving towards your goal, and the results will show!!!!

Hi Lisa30, in general you will lose more weight having shakes, but if it is a matter of not being able to take the shakes, then by all means try the porridge, hot meals and maybe the odd soup / hot choc?? xx

Well in January I lost 18lb in week 1. 10 lb in week 2 and 6lb this week making my total loss 34lb. I have incorporated low carb healthy meals this week (which i had always intended on doing) and see this as the continuation for me. hi julz, didnt find being away a prob, had my shake for breakfast then went to the restuarant and had a pot of black coffe, was so dissapointed that i was going to jack it all in but that was stupid as done so well so just gave myself a good talking to and im back on track, thanks for the words of encouragement

Welll; I’m so surprised that I lost wieght this week. I say surprised as I thought that nothing had gone but I knew that when I put my jeans on this morning they fely looser…… 7.3/4lb. That’s 18.3/4.
I’m so chuffed. I had a message from a friend last night. She’s from Finland and although we live only about 20 miles away from each other down here we are so rural that were like ships that pass in the night. She’s been back to Finland for Christmas and after spending a month catching up with family, we are eventually going to spend some time together. “Girl time”….. and I hope that she will see a difference in me. I have a year planned of re-unions and first meetings of distant rellies,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,never meet. Wish me luck, I will certainly need it.

Hi Everyone W.4 but I haven’t hit my January target, I’m onelb off. But I’m still really happy with another 2.5lb loss. In the 4 weeks I’ve lost 19lb (no slips either!!). Was. 12st1 starting now 10st.9!! Only 11lb to Target Weight – Wahoo!!! I’ve been weighing electronically so can see all my stats – gone from BMI of 28.1 to 24.9!!
