“I’ve Lost 39lbs * So Far – My Journey of Support, Success & New Beginnings” – Tony

Tony started the plan in support of his partner. Over the course 12-weeks, he successfully lost 39lbs. This weight loss not only reflected a significant physical change but also the start of a new, healthier lifestyle. He has more energy, developed a passion for working out and his confidence has massively improved. He is just about the embark on the second stage of his transformation so we caught up with him to get the details of his journey so far.

New You: What led to you starting the plan?

Tony: I decided to start the plan because I saw my partner struggling to stick to it on their own. They were facing challenges, and I could tell it was becoming overwhelming for them. I realised that if I joined them on this journey, not only could I offer the support and encouragement they needed, but we could also motivate each other to stay on track. I wanted us to succeed together, and I knew that sharing this experience would make it easier for both of us.

New You: And tell us about that first week…

Tony: My first week on the plan went surprisingly well, much easier than I had anticipated. Going into it, I had braced myself for constant fatigue and challenges adjusting, but it turned out to be quite manageable. One of the few low points was experiencing a minor headache around days three to four. This discomfort was a bit annoying, but it didn’t last long and was a small price to pay considering the benefits I started to notice.

By the end of the first week, I was pleasantly surprised to feel a noticeable boost in my energy levels. I had expected to feel drained and exhausted, especially as my body adjusted to the new routine. However, instead of the tiredness I had anticipated, I found myself feeling more energised and alert. It was a pleasant surprise that reassured me I was on the right track.

New You: What are your go-to meals & snacks?

Tony: Instead of reaching for traditional chocolate bars or other sugary snacks, I now turn to New You Bars. They’ve become my go-to treat when I’m craving something sweet, but still want to stay on track with my health goals. The Bars are not only delicious, but they also satisfy my sweet tooth without the guilt, which has made a huge difference in maintaining my progress.

In addition to the bars, I’ve also made New You Shakes a regular part of my diet. The versatility of these shakes is a game-changer for me. Whether I’m having one for breakfast, as a mid-day pick-me-up, or even as a post-workout snack, they fit perfectly into my busy lifestyle.

Exercise has been a big part of your journey. Tell us about that.

Exercise has played a significant role in my journey, and it has truly transformed both my body and mindset. Before starting the plan, I was much more of a couch potato, rarely finding the motivation or energy to be active. However, as I progressed on the plan and started noticing an increase in my energy levels, I felt inspired to incorporate more physical activity into my daily routine.

Initially, I began with simple exercises, such as using dumbbells to build strength and gradually ease myself into a more active lifestyle. What started as a small effort soon grew into something much more impactful. I found myself gradually pushing my limits and trying exercises I never would have considered before. One of the biggest surprises for me was how quickly I adapted to doing squats. I started out cautiously, but before long, I was consistently doing 80 to 100 squats every other day. This level of commitment and physical activity was something I never thought I’d be able to achieve.

How would you say the plan has changed your life?

Tony: Since completing the initial plan, my life has changed in several significant ways. The journey was so rewarding that I decided to continue and shed even more weight. One of the most noticeable changes has been in my physical appearance. I’ve lost several inches all around, which has not only made me feel lighter and more agile but also led to a completely different wardrobe situation. My old clothes simply became too big, so I had to invest in new outfits that actually fit my new body shape. It was a strange but exciting feeling to see my old clothes literally falling off me.

The benefits go far beyond just the physical, though. Mentally, I’ve experienced a huge boost in confidence. For the first time in a long while, I feel genuinely proud of my appearance.

Health-wise, the changes have been just as impactful. I have more energy throughout the day, and tasks that used to feel exhausting now seem much more manageable. My stamina and overall fitness have improved, making everyday activities easier and more enjoyable. I’ve also noticed positive changes in my mood and mental clarity, likely due to the combination of weight loss and increased physical activity.

New You: What has being on plan taught you so far?

Tony: Being on the plan has taught me some invaluable lessons, particularly about hydration and portion control, both of which have fundamentally changed my relationship with food. One of the most important things I learned was the importance of drinking more water. Staying well-hydrated became a key strategy for me, not just for overall health, but as a way to curb unnecessary snacking. I realised that often, what I thought was hunger was actually just thirst. By drinking more water throughout the day, I found that I was far less tempted to reach for snacks, which made it much easier to stick to the plan.

Another significant lesson was the importance of portion control. Before starting the plan, I had a habit of always opting for the largest portion sizes, whether at home or when eating out. I associated bigger portions with better value or greater satisfaction. However, being on the plan has completely shifted my perspective. I’ve learned that smaller, more mindful portions not only satisfy my hunger but also make me feel better physically and mentally. Now, I’m more conscious of the amount of food I’m consuming, and I’ve become much more in tune with my body’s actual hunger cues.

New You: Any memorable non-scale victories you’d like to share?

Tony: One of my favourite non-scale victories occurred when I realised I needed to buy new trousers because my old ones were falling down. This was a clear and satisfying indicator of my progress. I distinctly remember the moment I made this discovery. As I went about my day, I kept having to adjust my trousers because they felt too loose. It was both surprising and exhilarating to see such a tangible result of my hard work.

New You: What is the nicest compliment you have received since losing weight?

Tony: Since losing weight, I’ve been fortunate to receive many compliments, and each one has had a special impact on me. One of the most meaningful sources of encouragement has been the Secret Slimmers group I’m part of. The support and kind words from people who understand the journey I’m on have been incredibly motivating. Their compliments, whether about my progress or my dedication, have really helped me stay focused and continue pushing forward, especially during challenging moments. Knowing that others in the group noticed and appreciated my efforts made all the difference, and it kept me going strong when I needed it most.

Another compliment that has stuck with me came from my colleagues at work. Several people have told me that I look younger since losing weight, and hearing that was a huge boost to my confidence. It’s amazing how a physical transformation can also affect how others perceive you. The fact that people have noticed such a positive change in my appearance has reinforced just how much my hard work has paid off. It’s not just about the numbers on the scale; it’s also about how I feel and how others see the positive changes in me.

New You: If you could go back in time to when you were beginning the plan, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Tony: First and foremost, I would remind myself to keep snacks in perspective. Snacks should be just that – occasional and purposeful rather than a routine part of my daily plan. It’s easy to fall into the habit of using snacks as a crutch or a reward, but I would advise myself to treat them as something to be used sparingly and only when truly needed. This mindset would help prevent unnecessary snacking and keep me focused on my overall goals.

Additionally, I would stress the importance of staying well-hydrated by ordering more water bottles. Having a sufficient supply of water bottles readily available would ensure that I consistently drink enough water throughout the day. Staying hydrated is crucial for both overall health and for curbing unnecessary cravings that can sometimes be mistaken for hunger. By keeping a constant supply of water on hand, I would be better equipped to manage my hydration needs and avoid the temptation to reach for snacks when what I really needed was just a drink.

New You: What would you say to someone considering trying the plan?

Tony: If someone is considering trying the plan, I would highly recommend it. One of the things I found most appealing about the plan is that the food options are excellent, even for those who might be picky eaters. I used to consider myself quite particular when it comes to flavours and textures, but I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of the meals provided.

The plan offers a diverse range of options that cater to different tastes and preferences, so it’s very likely that you’ll find something you enjoy. I had my own set of preferences and quirks, but I was able to discover a selection of products that suited my tastes and kept me satisfied throughout the journey. From savoury snacks to sweet treats, there’s a good chance you’ll find items that you like, even if you’re a bit choosy about what you eat.

Additionally, the plan is designed with flexibility in mind, which means you can tailor it to fit your individual needs and preferences. Whether you’re looking for convenience, taste, or variety, there’s something that will work for you. The key is to explore the options available and find what works best for your taste buds and lifestyle.

Whether you want to lose half a stone or 10 stone*, have a slimmer figure, or are just looking to get maximum nutrition in minimum time, then New You can make the perfect partner to get you to where you want to be.
