Wednesday – Increase your Positivity for a happier New You
If you allow your mind to enter that positivity zone, there’s little that can hold you back! A positive mental attitude can go a long way in helping you achieve those goals you’ve set for yourself! To help you stay on track on your New You journey, we have put together our top 10 tips to increase your positivity!
1) Start each day with a positive thought
Your first thought of the day sets the tone for the hours to come so make sure it’s a happy one! As you open your eyes each morning, be aware of that first thought. Say a positive affirmation to yourself such as: “I feel great” or “Today is going to be a good day”. While this may feel silly, this re-programmes your brain from negative mode to positive thinking and sets your mode for the day.
2) Manage rejection and the negativity of others
While you will always find great support from us here at The New You Plan, and especially in our exclusive Secret Slimmers Facebook group, you may still face negativity of others but knowing how to deal with this will keep your positivity at an all time high! The trick is to take what they are saying and prove them wrong. For every person who says you can’t do it, take those comments and use them to show them how wrong they were! It is the perfect driving force for success!
3) Rid yourself of resentment
Feeling resentment towards yourself or others around you is a recipe for disaster and detrimental to your mood. It gives you the wrongful impression that you lack control in your life. The key here is to accept responsibility. It’s your life and YOU are in control!
4) Surround yourself with positive people
Negative people will drag your spirits down so if you want to stay positive, stay away from them. Think of the people who have a positive effect on your mood and surround yourself with them. Positivity greatly rubs of on others so you’ll instantly feel your mood is lifted.
5) Reward your achievements
It is essential to reward yourself when you achieve a goal, no matter how small or big it is! Rewarding yourself will remind you how far you have come and will encourage you to continue to succeed. Each time to achieve a goal, reward yourself and set new goals.
6) Pay compliments to those around you
Say something nice about someone else at least once day! You’ll instantly notice that you’ve made them feel good about themselves! You did something good for them and lifted their spirits, which in turn has made you happier. But a word of warning… only pay genuine compliments as insincere comments will create suspicion!
7) Be enthusiastic
Enthusiasm is contagious and will spread to those around you radiate it and feel your positivity grow!
8) Post positively
In a social media rich world, you probably have various accounts and profiles online so use them to generate positivity. Start each day with a positive post or affirming quote and watch as the positivity spreads! If you aren’t connected to Pinterest, set up an account today. Create a board specially for positivity quotes and fill these with anything that helps you feel inspired. Then, if you feel demotivated, read through these to retain your positive mindset.
9) Engage in physical activity
One of the quickest ways to shift from a negative attitude is to change your physiology. If you are stressed, exercising offers a quick release, helping cleanse a negative pattern of thought and redirects your energy towards the positive.
10) Look for positivity
In every situation, constantly remind yourself to seek out the positives. Ask yourself: “What is great about this moment?” and “What is positive about this person?”.
Your Task today is to answer the following questions:
1) What do you do to keep a positive mindset?
2) Do you believe a positive mindset can make a difference on your weight loss journey?
3) Do you believe a positive can make you feel healthier?

Fab Eileen thank you for sharing with us. Positivity is the key 🙂 xxxx
I keep a positive mindset by not looking at the bigger picture. Breaking down into mini goals helps so much to keep you motivated instead of thinking Oh God I’ve got so far to go.
Having a positive mindset definitely helps with a successful weightloss and just your general well being. If you radiate happiness it effects everyone and everything around you.
All of these things make me feel healthier abd if I ever have a wobbly moment I look back at old pics or old running times abd it perks me up seeing how far I’ve come. Xx
Fab Jennie thank you so much for sharing with us. Love these all they definitely play a big factor in helping you on plan <3 xxxx
1) For me a positive mindset happens with self belief. The belief that loosing weight is possible even when it feels impossible. Also breaking things down in to small goals will contribute toward the ultimate goal.
2)A positive mindset is essential to sticking with the plan. If you can dream it and keep positive that you can succeed then you will.
3) A positive mental attitude can break through the toughest of times and lead to a healthier life. If you are healthier you will feel happier, if you feel happier it rubs off on others
Thank you for sharing with us Jackie. Definitely think working towards every small goal to then reach your end goal is a big factor on your journey. <3 xxx
Being positive is a huge part of my NY journey, without it I truly feel that it wouldn’t be as successful in this as I have been.
With every day that comes I simply tell myself that today I will succeed and I will achieve my goal of getting through the day that’s ahead of me. Succeeding on this journey is down to me and me alone so I have to tell me that I can do this and I will do this!
For me having a positive mindset is the number 1 thing you need to start and stick to the NY plan. If your mind isn’t in the correct place then how can you succeed. I have days where I wobble and want to turn as i once did to food but it’s the positive attitude that helps me to believe in myself that helps me to stick to plan and inch closer to those goals I’ve set.
In a word, yes…. The more positive I am the happier I am and any negatives or struggles I come across seem easier to deal with…
