TEAM TIPS – HOW TO DEAL WITH STRESS

Stress is one of the biggest reason’s that people put on weight.  So many times we can be going well with our diet or our maintenance plan and then all of a sudden, some stress comes our way and BANG! It knocks us off our feet and throws us off course on our healthy routine and mindset.

Learning how to deal with stress can be a life long journey, we all need to find a way that works for us.  There isn’t a one size fits all solution to dealing with stress, and that is probably why there is not a one size fits all solution to staying slim.

If you are really committed to creating your new you, and you know that stress is a big cause for you to loose control of your eating then you need to really figure this out for yourself and find a way that helps you to deal with stress without turning to food for comfort.

Here are some tips on how to deal with stress, please make sure you contribute any ideas you have, if we all get our ideas together then this can be a great reference for people to come to and get ideas…

  1. EFT EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE – TAPPING – this technique is really effective in learning how to turn something that stirs up a negative emotion inside us, and unblocking that energy and letting it go… You can learn this technique by finding a therapist near you.  If you live near Belfast I can personally recommend Heather Johnston from www.makelifelighter.com
  2. CIRCLE OF CONCERN / CIRCLE OF INFLUENCE – Understanding this concept was one of the biggest things that helped me to stop worrying about stuff I didn’t need to worry about.  This concept is explained perfectly by Stephen Covey in his book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.  I really recommend you read this if there are a lot of people or circumstances in your life that cause you stress, the first chapter on being proactive is very useful!
  3. EMOTION COMES FROM MOTION – Another great way to deal with stress or feeling low, is to realise that your emotions are usually a reflection of what you are doing with your body.  If you are lying about feeling sorry for yourself, then you won’t experience high positive emotions… get up and move and you will start to feel better!

Hi guys…. Thank you so much for the bundle, I’m really low on products and flat broke so it is well timed! Plus now my hubby wants to join so I’m saving like made to order a 200 bundle for us to share, this can keep us going for now!

My tips for stress were given to me by a friend of mine: a small little roll on ‘destress oil’ it’s a aromatherapy oil she bought for me on amazon and you use it at times of stress you just roll it onto your pulse points and its mad it actually works! She also got me a really good book about ‘five steps to having it all’ how to get organised and have a happy stress free life for busy working Mams! Really good read

But I must say my biggest way to unwind and de stress after a hard day, is to head to my Mams house for a girly chat, I normally find talking helps! I’m always back to my calm self after seeing my mam

I THINK MY WAY OF STRESS DEALING,IS GETTING IT OUT,TALKING TO MY PARTNER OR MY FRIENDS……

HOW ELSE: I GO INTO MY BEDROOM LOCK THE DOOR AND READ MY BOOK OR LISTEN TO MY IPOD LIKE ESCAPISM..

I HAVE TO SIEVE THRU MY EMOTIONS FIRST THAN I CAN GET THEM OUT.

I HAVE A BATH,OR JUST GET OUT OF THE HOUSE AND GET SOME EXCERCISE…

      I LOVE GETTING MASSAGES TOO,OR A FACIAL

The way I relieve stress, is to go out and offer help and support to someone else, whether it be helping out an elderly neighbour , or helping out at the RSPCA , it always makes me feel a lot calmer and less stressed when I have done something nice for others. So go out now and spread the love guys…..you will feel lots better, I promise! X

Other ways I relieve stress are to:

Play lively music and dance around the front room!

Light some really lovely scented candles

De clutter !! I take 10 minutes each day to tidy and organise my sanctuary!

Look at all the photos and images that make me feel happy.

Open the windows and let in as much fresh air and natural light as possible

At work , walk around the car park at lunchtime and catch up with friends I haven’t spoken to for a while

I hope you like my stress busting tips for Tuesday! 🙂

As a teen I can tell you, stress is a daily thing haha it’s good to do what Ellie says, walk. It’s the best. When I’m fed up I usually count to 10 and go away from everyone. If ur a smoker, have your smoke. If ur a non smoker, have tea. A pot if tea solves everything. The best thing is tea nd you just give yourself 5 mins till your head is clear. If u feel still stressed then talk to someone that doesn’t stress you out and you can talk too. My advice really is a pot of tea and a relaxation time of 5 mins. There are many ways. You have to find what suits you. Change your environment,5min break.. Anything to distract your mind from it.
I was told this from my older brother, in a situation you find yourself that you want to blip.
Take a 10 min break nd come back & see if you still want it. It’s axing how your mind changes within 10 mins. If you have family over for dinner, have tea & broth & it’s a garentee you won’t stress about picking nd blipping.
      Good luck , 100% people! 100% since day 1 with 3 planned holidays 🙂

I’m studying a law degree plus have a 13week old baby and 2year old so often get stressed especially when I have an assignment due in! My tips are as follows:

      1. Try to exercise regularly. Your body can fight stress better when it is fit. Exercise is great for clearing the head. Even 10 minutes walk round the block helps!

      2. Learn to manage your time more effectively.Set limits appropriately and say no to requests that would create excessive stress in your life.

      3. Always always make time for hobbies and interests. These are great stress relievers!

      4. Get enough rest and sleep. Your body needs time to recover from stressful events.

      5. Don’t rely on alcohol, drugs, or food to reduce stress. Ease up on caffeine, too.

Recently I’ve discovered a new stress reliever : putting on some fancy music and dancing about the house while cleaning! Come on, shake that booty 🙂

Hi everybody,am feeling good, am back on the wagon forgot how good it felt after my 2 weeks of blippity blips…I personally am going to have to come up with a few new ways to relieve stress as I usually smoke when stressed, hoping to kick that habit very soon.
Walking usually helps clear my head if I’m stressed I usually put the iPod on and go, My awful array of music (according to my 15 year old) from all the decades usually cheers me up..
A good old chat with my best friend normally helps too which usually turned into the glass of vino which turned into the bottle, glasses of water and pots of tea since New You lol..

Hi Guys, i have to say i am loving the plan and just starting week 2 at 100%. How do i cope with stress? Well a number of years ago while going through a particularly bad patch with my teenage daughter a friend introduced me to “Reiki” and it literally saved my life.

Alot of people do not know what Reiki is.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

At that time i had no idea what Reiki was and had to do a lot of research on it. After several Reiki sessions i decided to learn this wonderful art for myself and i am now a Reiki Master.

I have made many changes in my life through using Reiki and i continue to make changes – the New You Plan for the New Me. I no longer stress over anything. I have learned to see things for what they are and then either deal with them or let them go xx

I find exercise is a fantastic way for me to deal with stress.
Put on the headfones and head out for a walk on my own listening to my fave music. Currently I’m trying to push my self as hard as I can to jog and try and jog an extra distance every evening. I love it! Exercise is not only good for weight loss but great for the mind

Ah stress and how to deal with it!
I am a mother of a 15 year old boy doing his junior cert. His dad and I split when he was a baby and he’s no help when it comes to dealing with him. I do however have a wonderful partner who’s the best 🙂
I work shift work as an air traffic controller, arguably one of the most stressful jobs in the world.
So there’s one recipe for a bit of stress.
      How I deal with it:

      1. Have a hobby. I race motorcycles. Having a hobby is a sure outlet for all your creativity and expression of self. It’s liberating being able to do what you love and bust out of the daily grind.

      2. Exercise! I spin and walk and do Zumba. And I’ve just recently started TRX Suspension Training. All of this helps to work out all those physical and emotional kinks.

      3. Friends. Tall to them. Moan to them. Listen to them. Laugh with them. Be they your everyday friends, or SS friends. They’re vital to stress busting.

      4. Remind yourself that this too shall pass. Almost nothing is insurmountable. And the old adage that someone else is always worse off than you may help get things in perspective.

      5. Enjoy NY and the power it has out in your hands. It has given you back control of yourself and your body, and the liberation should help to combat any stress you’re feeling in other aspects of your life.

Stress? Pah! Bring it on 😉

My main tips for dealing with stress are:
      1. Go onto SS for some inspiration and motivation
      2. Go out for a walk
      3. Exercise
      4. Listen to good, uplifting music
      5. Have a nice long soak in the bath
      6. Read a book
      7. Have an early night
      8. Speak to your partner or a friend
      9. Watch a comedy
      10. Do bit of retail therapy
      11. Enjoy a hobby
      Have a great day. xx

Well when I’m stressed I like to do any of the following: sit in a quite room, clean, work out, cry or just simply talk to Jamie who always helps me through 🙂

    • Author gravatar

1.talk to my family members & friends
      2. Take myself out for a walk
      3. Spend some alone time in a hot bath to unwind
      4. Take my mind of the situation by colouring in with my kids( really help)
      5. Play music really loud and dance crazy with the kids, just seeing their faces so happy releases the tension

Hope you all find help from my ideas x

    • Author gravatar

      1. Singing is a great way to release stress and depression.

      2. I also go for a walk if I am stressed.

      3. Cleaning helps me too as I get rid of that pent up feeling.

      4. Have a really good laugh with friends or family and you will feel
      better.

      5. Put on your earphones and lie down in a quiet room and listen to some
soft soothing music. Classical for me. That would put me to sleep.
