The Interview:
Sandra’s achievements so far:
Sandra started our VLCD program at the end of last year in October 2013 and in just over 6 months she has lost an amazing 4 stone! This has seen her drop from a size 24 right down to a size 12. Sandra’s goal now it to make it to a size 10. Sandra noted that the weight loss has been that quick that her brain has not caught up and she finds herself wearing clothing that are too large.
Sandra’s reasons for starting:
Sandra looked at the website and was spurred on by the success of people just like her. This combined with the support she received before even starting motivated her to take up the diet. Sandra was also pushed forward by the fact that she wanted to make a change after 25 years of marriage and wanting to make a change for the next 25. Also Sandra had a big goal for her 50th birthday in July.
Why The New You VLCD Plan:
Sandra had tried other diets and after 2 years of deliberation Sandra decided that enough is enough. Aside from the reasons mentioned earlier Sandra loves the fact that the decisions were taken out of her hands to focus on other things. Sandra also loved the fact that there are tips and tricks on the Facebook page and blogs to change the products and keep things interesting.
What Sandra wanted to gain by losing weight:
First and foremost it was about the health benefits. The second was the ability to walk into a shop and buy clothing straight off the rack. Both of which Sandra has already seen. Sandra has also noticed that losing this weight has helped with the odd ache and pain that she had before and her movements are far less limited.
Sandra talks support:
First and foremost Sandra mentions that the support is the main reason why she was able to stick to the plan. Any time she felt it difficult to continue she would take a time out and head onto Secret Slimmers for motivation. Sandra found that she completely related to the posts from other people in the Facebook group and it was knowing that others were going through the same thing that empowered Sandra. She would whisk herself off to the greenhouse to get some quiet time and catch up with the stories from people in the group.
Sandra’s Advice to anyone starting out:
Firstly take it one day at a time. Secondly learn which products you like – try everything. Use the webinars and other resources, there are so many great things on the website that you can use to stay motivated, find answers to questions and tips to help you through. Go online and ask questions. Know there is going to be an amazing loss at the end of the first week. Use Mini goals and set yourself rewards such a dress that you really want.
How to stay on track:
You will find that the routine makes this easy to stick to over time. Don’t let this affect your normal life. You will still have a social life it is just a matter of adjusting. Sandra found that she was still able to go for a night out and not have to feel like she was missing anything, she mentions that if anything she felt better for not having had a few drinks and found she even enjoyed her evenings more.
Sandra’s routine on TFR: (Menu Plan)
[box type=”info” size=”large” style=”rounded” border=”full”]Sandra would have porridge for breakfast and she would try and leave this until as late in the morning as possible as she was not hungry anyway i.e. 12 noon. Sandra would have broth in the afternoon At Seven in the evening Sandra would have a meal in the evening. Made with spices to change it up a bit. Half nine she would have a shake – mixing it up again here with our water flavourings. Then late at night she would have a bar. Sandra would drink a 2l bottle of water each day and then make the rest of her water allowance up in the broth and with tea/coffee.[/box]
Sandra’s time on refeed:
Sandra used the Private Momentum Maintainers group in Facebook to keep on track. Sandra also used the refeed guide to help ensure her success during this time. She found the menu ideas here crucial to keep things interesting and make it easier in terms of planning the food.
