Amy’s journey from “rock bottom” to losing 9 stone is one of the most inspiring stories of 2025. We sat down with her to discuss how she reclaimed her health, her confidence, and her life.

This is her story..

Rachael: Amy, big congratulations on being one of our £1,000 runners-up! How did it feel to get that call?

Amy: I was really shocked! It came up as an unknown number and I thought it was spam, so when you said it was Rachel from The New You Plan, I thought it had to be a prank. It feels amazing now it’s sunk in.

Rachael: Tell us about your journey. How much have you lost and what was the starting point?

Amy: I started on January 1st, 2025, and by the end of the year, I had lost 9 stone altogether. I actually kept my progress quiet all year because I didn’t want to talk myself out of it once I saw results; I wanted to show the final transformation at the end.

Rachael: What was life like before you started? What led you to hit “rock bottom”?

Amy: About seven years ago, I was in a motorbike accident and broke my pelvis. I was bed-bound for three months, gained a lot of weight, and then spent years yo-yo dieting. Eventually, it impacted everything. I was pre-diabetic, an asthmatic, and had an underactive thyroid. My job in a warehouse is very physical, and by the end of the day, my legs and feet were killing me – I had no energy left. I felt like if I didn’t change, I wouldn’t live much longer.

Rachael: How has your health changed since losing the weight?

Amy: I’m no longer pre-diabetic! My sugars and my asthma are back to normal. Even with an underactive thyroid, I’ve proven it’s possible to lose weight. I’ve gone from a size 24/26 to a 10/12. I used to be a recluse because I was embarrassed, but now that embarrassment is gone.

Rachael: What are your secrets for staying on track, especially in the early days?

Amy: To get through that first week, stay on top of your water; I was drinking four to six of my large water bottles a day. To stop the ‘food noise,’ you have to keep busy – I even downloaded a language-learning app to keep my mind occupied when I was bored. Most importantly, don’t compare your progress to anyone else, because whether you have one stone or ten to lose, your journey is yours.

Rachael: We hear you have a few “pro-tips” when it comes to the food packs?

Amy: Definitely! I love the Raspberry & White Chocolate shakes and the Cookies & Cream bars. I even ordered 30 of the limited edition Dubai Chocolate ones because I have a real sweet tooth! For meals, I love the Spag Bol, and here’s my favorite hack: I mix a spicy pack into the Sweet and Sour Noodles to balance the flavours. It’s brilliant!

Rachael: And you’re even back in the gym now?

Amy: Yes! I have a personal trainer once a week and go on my own too. I used to be terrified of injuring my pelvis again, but without that extra body weight, those fears are gone. I celebrate every win – even if my weights only go up by 0.5kg, that’s 0.5kg I couldn’t lift the week before!

Rachel: What’s next for the “New You”?

Amy: I’m going on holiday in four weeks, so I’m losing a few more “buffer” pounds now so I can truly enjoy myself without being restrictive or getting disheartened if I put a little on. When I get back, I’m moving onto Switch to maintain my weight and keep building muscle!
