After losing 4st 2lbs and stepping boldly into a happier, more confident version of herself, Emma was named ‘Best Self-Rediscovery Transformation’ and awarded £1000 as one of our Sept/Oct Transformation Challenge runners-up.

In this heartfelt interview with our Community Manager, Rachael, Emma opens up about grief, confidence, courage, and the moment everything finally “clicked.” Her journey is proof that even in the hardest seasons, you can rise, rebuild, and find your spark again.

Here is her story…

Getting Started: The Moment Everything Changed

Rachael: How did you feel when you found out you’d won the Transformation Challenge prize?

Emma: Shocked. Very shocked! I genuinely didn’t expect it at all. I actually thought the email I got was about winning a Ninja Blast from a Facebook competition… so when I rang back and they told me I’d won £1000, I couldn’t believe it. Such a lovely surprise.

Rachael: What made you enter the challenge for the first time?

Emma: I’m not really sure what prompted me, but I just thought, “I’ll give it a go.” I wanted something to push me a bit, something for me. I’m not a very confident person, so entering was scary, but I felt like it would help me step out of my comfort zone.

Rachael: And it paid off! How did you discover The New You Plan and decide to start?

Emma: I didn’t know what I wanted to do at first, so I searched online and found New You. I read loads of reviews and thought, “Could I do this?” I decided to try. I started once before, but my grandmother was very unwell and I was her carer, so it didn’t last long. After she passed away, I gained a lot of weight. That was the moment I said, “No… I’m giving this a proper go.”

Ever since then, my head has been fully in it. You really do need that “click” moment – when it happens, you just go for it.

Life on Plan: Progress, Support & Staying Focused

Rachel: How long have you been on plan and how much have you lost?

Emma: I started at the end of April, beginning of May. I’ve been fully on plan since then and I’ve lost just over 4st. I’ve been losing at a nice steady pace, which suits me.

How do you stay motivated through the natural ups and downs?

Emma: I remind myself that if I stay the same one week, it’s okay. Life happens. I’m more active now, and that can affect things too. But the weight is staying off. I’m proud of that.

Rachael: Has the Secret Slimmers community helped you along the way?

Emma: Oh, massively! Everyone in there is amazing. If I’m having a down day, that’s where I go. There’s always someone who understands and has great advice. Whether you want to celebrate or need a pick-me-up, that group is always there for you.

Why New You Worked for Emma

Rachael: What do you love most about the plan?

Emma: It fits my life perfectly. I work in a school and only get 45 minutes for lunch, so the packs are ideal. I have children too, and at first I thought cooking for them while being on plan would be hard, but after the first 3 days, it didn’t bother me at all.

Rachael: Is the ease of the packs part of what keeps you on track?

Emma: Definitely. If I’m hungry, I just grab something. I love all the products – Shakes, Porridges, Bars, Pots! But my breakfast go-to is always the Chocolate Caramel Muesli. I have that daily.

Rachael: How was your first week?

Emma: I lost 9lbs in my first week. Since then, it’s mainly been 1-2lbs a week. Recently I’ve stayed the same because I’ve started adding gentle exercise. But I feel better, stronger, and more energetic.

Rachael: How has your health and wellbeing changed?

Emma: I used to have terrible back issues and pain in my thighs and shoulders. That’s so much better now. My mood has completely lifted too. I was in a dark place and felt lost, but now I feel like me again. I’m finding my confidence and starting to come out of my shell.

Rediscovering Herself: Confidence, Clothes & Christmas Ahead

Rachael: How has this transformation affected your day-to-day life?

Emma: Everything is easier. I enjoy clothes again! I used to buy things to hide myself, but now I buy clothes I actually like, even if they’re tight fitting. I feel comfortable in my own skin for the first time in a long time.

Rachael: Will this Christmas feel different from last year?

Emma: Completely. I hated photos of myself last year. I would crop them so you could only see from the shoulders up. This year, I’m excited to take photos with my children. I feel so much better.

Rachael: Do people ask you about your weight loss?

Emma: All the time! I’ve had so many compliments. People at work, out and about… and some have already signed up to New You after asking me about it. I tell them all how much it has changed my life.

Looking Ahead: Goals, Maintenance & Advice for Others

Rachael: How close are you to your goal?

Emma: I’ve got about 1st 7lbs to go before I’ll feel comfortable. And then I’m planning to move to Switch. I’ll have New You products during the day and a healthy meal with my husband in the evening so that I get the best of both worlds. I know it will keep me on track and help me keep my weight off. I don’t ever want to put it back on again.

Rachael: Does maintenance feel less scary now?

Emma: Yes! I always thought losing weight was the easy part and keeping it off would be impossible. But knowing Switch exists makes it feel totally doable. I don’t feel intimidated by it anymore.

Rachael: What triggered your decision to make a change originally?

Emma: After losing my grandmother, I was in a bad place. I wasn’t working, my confidence had disappeared, menopause was kicking in, my clothes were tight, and I didn’t want photos taken. I was miserable. I missed me. I wanted the fun, confident version of myself back – that’s what pushed me to start.

Emma’s Advice for Anyone Considering New You or the Challenge

Rachael: What would you tell someone thinking about starting New You?

Emma: Try a smaller bundle first if you’re unsure! Once you try it, you’ll be hooked. The products aren’t powdery or artificial like others I’ve tried. They’re tasty, filling and so easy to fit into daily life. The first 3 days are tough, but once you get through them, it becomes second nature.

Rachael: And what about someone nervous to enter the Transformation Challenge?

Emma: Go for it! Do it for you. I never expected to win – not in a million years – but I’m so glad I entered. It boosts your confidence and gives you something to be proud of. All you can do is try… and it might be you next time.

Final Thoughts…

Rachael: Is there anything else you’d like to share?

Emma: The biggest change for me has been my confidence. I enjoy clothes again. I enjoy being in photos again. I feel like me and that’s more than I could have asked for.

The Secret Slimmers community feels like a family. There’s always someone there to help, encourage or support you. Watching everyone’s progress inspires me every day.

This journey has given me a new lease of life… and I already feel great. I can’t wait to see how I feel when I reach my goal.
