Julz’s Happy Healthy High 5
I am on a mission to be healthy and happy in every area of my life in 2016, I am sharing this journey with you every week to give you an insight into what I am doing to be happier and healthier! Every week I share 5 things that I have been up to on my personal new you journey 🙂
1.) Getting Plenty of Rest – after a manic start to 2016, I knew I had to have some rest this week, so I have been taking it easy this weekend and resting lots! I have been getting up at 5am for the last couple of weeks, but this week I have not been getting to bed early enough to get my 8 hours sleep. So this weekend I have taken the weekend off my 5am routine to get recharged.Getting enough sleep is very important when you are losing weight, as without enough sleep your body can create too much cortisol and this will slow down your weight loss.
There is no point pushing yourself too hard and the crashing, so listen to your body and get the rest you need. Are you ignoring your body? Are you pushing yourself too hard? How can you get the rest you need this week to be healthy and happy?
2.) Planning Holidays – It is always good to have something to look forward to, and I have been making some plans for holidays this week for a break in February, March and June. Sometimes just a long weekend away can recharge you. Trips away are also great focus to lose weight as they give you a target date to work towards!
What holidays can you plan in this year? Who would you love to go and visit? Where would you love to go? What do you want to see? Make plans, and make it happen! Don’t let life pass you by. Don’t say I have don’t have enough time or I don’t have enough money. Make time, and do something inside your budget!
3.) Saying NO – If you have a lot of responsibilities, sometimes it can feel like you are being pulled in all sorts of directions, and that you are letting people down if you say no. I am keeping my life very simple right now and only saying yes to my 3 main priorities, my health, my work and my family. If you feel guilty and say yes to everything, then you end up suffering. Don’t feel bad for putting yourself and the things that are important to you first.
What is pulling you away from what you want to be doing? What is distracting you from your main priorities? What is making you feel pressured? Take control and be empowered to say no.
4.) Wearing make up and accessories – I go through phases with make up and accessories! I always feel good when I pay attention to the details when I am getting dressed in the morning, so every day now I am wearing jewelry and spending more time on my make up. I got some make up lessons in 2015 and have been practicing! It helps me to feel good, and this in turn helps to keep my mindset on looking good. I know a lot of you probably do this everyday without question! I am trying to be like you! 🙂 lol
What can you do to make yourself look and feel better everyday?
5.) Active Family Life – In 2016 I am on a mission to build in family activities that will keep us all happy and healthy. This week we went on 2 family walks and 2 trips to the swimming pool. The girls are loving it, and so am I! Long may it continue! This is one habit that I am really committed to building into our family, especially as I have spent a lot of time with mobility problems in the last few years, I want to get up and get moving with my girls now. I want to make sure my girls enjoy a healthy active lifestyle.
What activities can you build into your week to create family rituals that make your family happy and healthy?
I hope you have a healthy and happy week ahead JulzNYM1!
