Happy Healthy High Five from Julz
In my new HAPPY HEALTHY HIGH FIVE blog series I am sharing what I am up to each week to be happy and healthy and challenging you to see what you can do next week to be healthy and happy too.
You see the new you plan is all about being happy and healthy, losing weight, being slim and happy with our bodies is ONE PART of that, and a very important part, but we need to support ourselves on this life changing journey, and to look after ourselves, love ourselves, and build in happy healthy habits that will support us in the long run.
It doesn’t matter whether you are 100% FAST FOCUS, or following FRESH FOCUS, or if you have fallen off the diet wagon all together and Ben & Jerry are your new best friends. If you can keep your mind focused on being happy and healthy in all areas of your life, you will find long term success. Because even if you have fallen off the diet wagon, if you are loving yourself in other ways, then you will not self sabotage on your diet for long, as you will bring your diet into the alignment of love, health and happiness that you are showing yourself in all other areas of your life.
This stuff is simple, but simple stuff is what makes amazing! There is a quote that I have loved for about 8 years now when I first heard it… “Ordinary things, Consistently Done, Create Extraordinary Results.”
There is nothing crazy complicated for you to be slim, happy and healthy. It is just doing the simple basic things, day in, day out, and then one day you will be like WOW, look at my life it is amazing!!
JULZ HEALTHY HAPPY HIGH FIVE THIS WEEK 🙂
1.) Just Do It – I have not been to a gym from before I got married! I think it is about 7 -8 years ago! This might seem bizarre to you but I have been paying for membership in my local health club for over 1 year and I have never used the sauna, Jacuzzi, swimming pool or gym! You see I signed up for a one year membership in December 2014 and the very next day I fell and broke my ankle (oops!) , I then started yoga to help my recovery, and when I was well enough to go, I had a mental block…. I always wanted to be “just a little bit slimmer” before I went, or I was “just too busy”, or “too tired”, and I always promised myself “I would start next month”. Anyway, I put all my excuses to bed and I bit the bullet and went, and I LOVED IT. I am so glad that I just got the courage to JUST DO IT! I feel so happy that I did this, and healthier too!
- QUESTION? – What are you afraid to do? Where are you afraid to go? Are you stopping yourself from exercising or swimming because you feel too big? I challenge you to step through your fear and just do it! Stepping outside your comfort zone and just doing it – this will make you happy and healthy! 🙂 Please let me know if you do this!
2. ) Less Screen Time – I removed Facebook and messenger from my phone about a week ago. I sometimes feel enslaved to my phone, to my messages, emails, notifications and alerts. Time goes by so fast, and I don’t want to miss any time with my girls and my husband. I am now being totally engaged and present when I am with them. I feel so happier, more relaxed, and when I do log onto Facebook and check my emails when I am at my computer I enjoy that time more too. Don’t get my wrong, I LOVE Facebook and social media, but I think we are all becoming too addicted to our phones, and it is time to live a bit more and forget about screen time and have more real time and real connections with my family. I think this is healthier and happier for us all.
- QUESTION? – Do you spend too much time on your phone? Are you missing our with connecting with your family and loved ones because of mindless news feed scrolling. Do you jump to every alert, but miss out on what is going on with your loved ones? How can you reduce screen time, and create more real time with your family? Less screen time = Healthier Happier Life!
3.) Dealing with Rosecea – I have had problem skin for a few years now, finally I went to see a dermatologist, and I have been trying to get different treatments, ranging from laser surgery last year, 3 months of antibiotics, at the moment my skin is quite red and flared up, so I went to my dermatologist and got a prescription and also a range of skin care treatment called Obadi. I only got it on Friday, so I have just started to use it, hopefully it will do the trick! Having good skin helps me to look good, and that makes me happy and gives me a healthy glow.
- QUESTION? – How is your skin? Does your skin look healthy? What can you do to improve it your skin care routine? Are you putting off going to seek treatment for something? Don’t suffer or put up with something, at least go and ask what options are available. It can be surprising how simple some things can be to get sorted.
4.) Creating My Vision Board – Christmas 2015 and 2014 I was laid up in bed unable to walk, and spent some time creating a vision board with an app on my phone. This year, being able to walk, and also limiting my time on my phone, I haven’t created one, but I spent a few hours on Saturday creating one. The 2 apps I like to use are in status to create the photos with words on them, and then flipagram to put the images together into a movie with my favourite song playing in the background. The video is a couple of minutes long and I will watch this every morning, to help me stay focused on my goals for 2016. These goals include my health, weight, fitness, things I want to do with my kids and husband, places I want to go, things I want to do, skills I want to develop. The reason I love to have a vision board is because when I get bogged down with the busyness of life, if I just looked at my vision board I get motivated and realise that these small issues and challenges should not knock me off course, and that I can make my life amazing if I just focus on what I want, this makes me happy and keeps me healthy!
- QUESTION? – What are your goals for 2016? What are you going to actively seek to do to be Happy and Healthy this year? Have you written them down? Created a Vision Board? How often do you read your goals? Make sure to include goals in all areas of your life, from your health, money, career, family, fun, fashion, travel, learning, skills, charity, and what ever else you LOVE!
5.) Wash, Cut & Blow Dry – Having long hair I rarely go to the hairdressers, probably average 2 visits a year for the last 10 years. So I decided to go for a wee trim and I got a nice bouncy blow dry. I am considering scheduling a couple of blow dries in every month (yes I think is that an old thing now that I am 40!! lol) Anyway, I felt fabulous after my blow dry!
- QUESTION? – When was the last time you got your hair done? Could you make an appointment at the hairdressers for a new style, colour, or even a simple blow dry? Taking time for yourself makes you happy and healthy 🙂 You are worth it!
If you feel inspired to take action on any of my HAPPY HEALTHY HIGH FIVES please let me know! I would love to know what you are doing to be happy and healthy this week 🙂
