From 6st Weight Loss to Lifelong Balance: Lynda’s New You Transformation

After losing an incredible 6st 1lb in just 5.5 months, Lynda didn’t stop there – she embraced the next chapter with open arms. Now, 11 months into maintenance, she’s not just kept the weight off -she’s discovered a whole new mindset, lifestyle, and sense of joy.
Lynda’s story is one of resilience, self-awareness, and redefining what happiness looks like – beyond the scales. In this inspiring Q&A, Lynda opens up about the mental shifts that helped her succeed, how she handles challenges now, and the daily habits that keep her grounded, strong, and smiling.
How much weight have you lost with The New You Plan?
I’ve lost 6st 1lb so far and I am so so happy and content. I wake every day jolly, happy and always smiling. I started the plan in March 2024 it took me 5.5 months to get there before going into maintenance in august 2024.
What difference has losing weight made to your life?

Losing the weight certainly helped with my hip issue and my new hip. They told me I had to lose weight as well because it’s less pressure on my hip. But as in walking or whatever, because I was a big-ish girl, my legs used to rub together, you know what I mean? Or I used to get up in the morning and I just felt quite sluggish, but it’s totally different now. Totally, totally different. I can move about easier, I sleep better, I don’t worry about anything.
Being able to go to the shops and get stuff without having to try this on, try that on and get something bigger. I can buy smaller clothes. I sleep better. And not only that, bit I feel better mentally as well. You’re not worrying about stuff or worrying what other people will think of you. I was always concerned that people were looking at me. But now I just don’t care or worry. I love it.
What were the biggest mental shifts you had to make during that transition from Total Food Replacement to Maintenance?

The biggest mental shifts I had to make during my transition was that food isn’t the answer to everything. It’s learning that you don’t have to eat all the time to make yourself feel better or try and cheer yourself up. And family time and celebrations don’t have to revolve around food.
What has maintaining taught you about your relationship with food and your body?
Maintaining my 6st weight loss has taught me that with food you have to listen to your body too. You’re not necessarily hungry – you might be thirsty or just bored. This has built my physical stamina as well. When it comes to exercise, it’s not always about how many you can do – it’s about being consistent!
How do you handle challenges or slips now that you’re in maintenance?

I’ve learned that slips does not have to involve the whole day and that you’re only human. Don’t beat yourself up about it. Forget it and move on with the plan for the rest of the day. Don’t use one slip up as an excuse to completely self sabotage. Get back on track and move on.
What meals or snacks still feel like staples in your routine?

I still enjoy all of the New You meals as I mix and match them. I feel the treats are a necessity as it makes you think you’re still having naughty things without the guilt. Like the Chocolate Brownie and Salted Caramel Cake. This mentally is a big help because you don’t feel you’re missing out on stuff.
Have you found a new normal that works for you long term?

What works for me is two days TFR and calorie counting on the others, with making sure I have plenty of protein and maintaining a high level of water intake, which is very important on this plan. If I have a planned event or a occasion day, I have a TFR day the next day.
What’s the nicest compliment you’ve received since maintaining your loss?

Since I have started the plan I have received lots of positive comments and all of them mean a lot to me, such as a lady saying the other day you look 20 years younger.
If you could speak to someone about to finish the plan, what would you tell them?

If you’re about to finish the plan, I would say you have done brilliantly to get where you are now and you have all the tools to carry on. Don’t forget the Secret Slimmers community and the plan will always be there to support you.
