That is the same as saying I do not believe in myself,,,Self belief and confidence is the key to all personal power.I have been fat and thinner in the past, either way that did not change the person I AM,,Always believe in yourself and your capabilities ,set your mind to the task be it weight loss or anything else and you will do it, as it is ,,FOR YOU x 🙂
Love this Jilly 🙂 So true 🙂 xox
The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any” – think about it this way, when a person can recognize that what actions they take in life can make a difference they gain power because they move forward, when a person believes what they do has little to no effect on the outcome of a situation though, they lose power since they do not believe themselves to be influential enough to cause change and so fail to act to begin with.
so if you start the ny journey with no belief in success – then you sabotage yourself from day 1 and relinquish the power you have to change your life by being healthier/happier/slimmer .
Soooo true 🙂 I love your take on this 🙂 x

in many ways but the one that most stands out in my mind is related to blipping, if you blip once draw a line under it & let it go, this was something I struggled with the self destructive force was always well you have ruined that no point carrying on is there .. until one day someone said if you have a bunch of roses and one dies you don’t throw the whole bunch away do you … no .. you remove the dead one & continue admiring the rest of the bunch ! so why if you make one mistake do you hit self destruct ! I thought about that long and hard and realised I have the power to stop this cycle, when I throw it all away I throw away my control, one blip won’t make me gain 2 and a half stone again but blip after blip will add up and it will !! That’s my power 😉
So so so true Hannah 🙂 Love the way you described it with the roses 🙂
The only person who is in control of your life is you! If you do not take ownership and make decisions about your life the only one you can blame is you.
Doing the New You Plan is an active choice! It’s a decision to make your life better and to improve how you feel! Life is about choices! Make them!!! Xxx
MAKE THEM IS RIGHT! WOOHOO 🙂
No-one can take away your power. They dont have the right to, so don’t let them. Moreover, don’t you let go of it. Hold on tight. (Smashing day 4) K
WOOHOO!!! WELL DONE YOU 🙂 X
I think the biggest factor in loss of power is always the will to persevere. If you can’t believe that what you’re doing is benefit, or don’t see the results, then your confidence can always take a hit and it can stop you from being able to be strong. It’s happened to me, and a million others too, the only way to keep going is to remember your goals – why are you doing it?? What do you want to achieve it?? How is it going to happen if you give up now? That’s what has kept me going and will keep me going into the foreseeable future!
Persevering is sooooo important 🙂 xx
By giving away the power to food or to situations makes you weaker and this in turn creates a cycle thats hard to break. Keeping my power has given me the strength to get through some difficult situations lately and it has in turn reinforced my determination to complete tasks and be in positions that i would have had the excuse of saying …ah but X is happening or Y isnt well how could I be strong ???? I can be strong for MEEEEEEEEEEE
YES YOU CAN AND YOU ARE SOOOOOOO STRONG 🙂 INSPIRATION 🙂
I read a variation of this years ago and use it so often now, I know it be heart!! It reminds me that I am equal and also that nobody has power over me unless I give it to them!
I used to feel very hurt if anyone gave me an angry look, spoke in a harsh tone, or didn’t speak at all. I’ve grown enough emotionally to realize that the look, tone or mood of another person toward me often has nothing to do with me. It generally has more to do with what is going on inside the other person.
So why do my feelings still get hurt? It occurs to me that my extreme sensitivity is a form of conceit- I think I am the focus of everyone’s actions. Am I so important that everything that goes on around me must have something to do with me? I suspect that attitude reflects my vanity instead of reality. And vanity is simply a defect of character that I am working on changing.
With help, my sensitivity to all that happens around me has greatly lessened I try to ask myself, “How important is it? ” When I do carry the hurt, it only hurts and controls me.
Other people are important to me and sometimes their opinions matter, but I may be taking something personally that has nothing to do with me. Having opinions of my own about myself lets me accept other people’s thoughts without being controlled by them.
“I awakened to the fact that what other people did and said reflected on them; what I did and said reflected on me”
“I awakened to the fact that what other people did and said reflected on them; what I did and said reflected on me” – love it 🙂 Thank you for sharing xx
my mantra now is I HAVE THE SAY IN WHAT I WEIGH. It is so empowering to know we aren’t victims to food anymore. I feel so power full
WOOHOO!!! Love it 🙂 xx
Unwell You has taught me how to be a New me !! I now realise that IM in control, not food !!! And I no longer rush to eat something when I’ve had a bad day or I’m tired, or upset…….
Knowing you have the power to control your own destiny is awesome …..
Yes you are and you will stay in control 🙂 xox
I meant New You, not unwell !!!!!! Don’t know where that came from !!
All my life people would comment that I was a ‘fine girl’, ‘big boned’ and it suited me to be a little on the ‘chubby’ side. My weight constantly went up and down but never quite reached where it should have been. I now realise I gave the power to these comments and to other people and could not see myself as slender, I am now reading this comment and taking back the power as ultimately it is up to me to believe and to act on it!
