Sammi was named Best Empowerment Transformation in our Jan/Feb Transformation Challenge, winning £1000 cash. Her journey with The New You Plan began with a heartbreaking moment when she had to tell her six-year-old son they couldn’t climb a mountain because her body was too heavy. That painful experience became her turning point.

Six months later, Sammi has lost an impressive 4st 9lbs and transformed not just her body but her entire outlook on life. What started as a 3-week commitment has evolved into a complete lifestyle change that she has no plans to abandon. Throughout her interview, Sammi’s passion and emotion shine through as she describes how the plan has given her more than just weight loss – it’s given her freedom, confidence, and a renewed sense of self.

Getting Started on The New You Plan

Emma: So how much weight have you lost so far?

Sammi: The last time that I got weighed, because I no longer get weighed anymore, I’d lost 4st 9lbs, since the end of August last year. My original goal was 12st, but then I got really close to that and realised I could lose a bit more. So I’ve moved that now to 10st 7lbs, which takes me to a really healthy BMI. I think that would be most comfortable and the best kind of body for me.

Emma: What led you to starting The New You Plan?

Sammi: The reason that I started The New You Plan specifically is I’d been losing weight myself for about 18 months, and I got really stuck in that cycle of doing really well and then not doing so well. I’d put on and lost the same 2st about three or four times. It was exhausting.

It got to a point where we climbed Snowdon by accident. My little one was like, “Right, Mummy. We need to go climb mountains now.” And I had to tell him we couldn’t do it because my body was just too heavy and limiting me in so many ways. Having to say no to him, I thought, “I have to do something. I cannot say no to my little boy when I am the one who can control what my body weighs.”

I’ve done very low calorie diets before. I know that they’re very structured and work very quickly. An advert for The New You Plan had popped up a few different times, so I decided to get three weeks’ worth to give me the kickstart I needed. That was six months ago, and I’ve got no plans of not using the products at any point.

The Transformation Experience

Emma: How did you feel when you found out that you were one of our Transformation Challenge winners?

Sammi: I cried. I was at work, and I was just speechless, which is very difficult because I am not the kind of person who’s ever rendered speechless. It takes a lot because I like to talk!!

It’s still not sunk in that I’ve actually won and been selected as a winner. But then it was on my vision board, so I shouldn’t actually be surprised because I visualised winning a number of times and it came to fruition. I was very, very happy.

Emma: Tell us about your first week on plan

Sammi: My first week was like, “Yes! Let’s do this!” I got all of my packs laid out and decided to get them ready the night before, I took a picture, and visualised an amazing day ahead.

I didn’t give myself a choice of talking myself out of it, and I didn’t expect the meals to be as nice as they are. Good-for-you food has got this really bad reputation of not tasting particularly nice, but I was just like, “Oh, this is delicious!”

It was just so easy. It tastes good. I don’t have to think about anything – I don’t have to food prep or calorie count. I was like, “Oh, I’ve got so much more time.” During that first week, I went from planning to do just three weeks to realizing how easy and straightforward it was. That’s why I decided to buy another month’s supply about a week in.

Life Changing Results

Emma: How has your life changed so far?

Sammi: For me, it’s split into two very separate changes. You’ve got the outer, very physical transformation that’s very obvious to everybody. But then there is the inner transformation, which for me far outweighs the change in the way that I looked.

When I started the plan, I was already very much in a place of loving who I am and loving my body. The outer transformation for me is just a really nice side effect to everything else.

The inner transformation is about how I’ve been able to reframe really toxic and negative thought patterns. I’ve got a new fire, and it’s going back to the favourite parts of myself that I’ve buried for whatever reason in the past.

Having that time for journaling and focusing on me, I’ve worked more on who I want to be and how I get there. My mind has changed in such a way that I am excited now about everything. I’m not as anxious. I now have a deep-rooted self-belief and genuine self-love. I’ve built stronger boundaries, identified areas of my life that I didn’t think were bothering me, and healed my relationship with food in a way I never thought I’d be able to do.

I honestly believe I could go out and do whatever I wanted to do. I am just on fire!!

Emma: What has being on the plan taught you so far?

Sammi: It has taught me that I am stronger than I thought I ever was. It has taught me that I don’t need as much to nourish my body as I’ve always thought. It’s taught me to be kinder and gentler to myself and to trust my body to do its thing.

It has taught me that there are people out there that will support you no matter what because the community here is second to none. It’s taught me what I’m capable of and that I’m allowed to take up as much space as I want. I am free to do what I want and be how I want to be.

While my body’s been shrinking, I’ve been getting bigger. You’re supposed to grow and flourish and be the very best version of you. The plan has taught me that’s allowed.

Favourites & Future Goals

Emma: What were your favourite meals and snacks on the plan?

Sammi: I’m very much a creature of habit and have pretty much the same thing every day. The Crispy Peanut Bars – they don’t taste like you should be allowed to eat them on a plan like this because they’re just delicious chocolatey goodness. Banoffee Porridge, even though I hate porridge – I literally have a whole drawer full of those.

The Pasta Broccoli and the Spaghetti Bolognese – I have that every day. That is just divine. And Salt and Vinegar crisps – I don’t like Salt and Vinegar crisps normally, but these are my favourites. The Crispy Caramel Bars are delicious too.

For the Shakes, the Chocolate one’s best warm, and the Cafe Latte one too. When it gets to summer, I’ll be blitzing them up with ice.

Emma: What are you most looking forward to when you reach your overall goal?

Sammi: Climbing another mountain, just because of my son’s little face when we get to do it. He wants to go do Snowdon again. We’re going to Wales in a couple of weeks, and he’s like, “We’re gonna do Snowdon then again.” I promised him we’ll do it again next year.

I just want to never have to say I can’t do something because of my body being too heavy or too big. I don’t ever want to say, “I can’t do that because I weigh too much.” I want to be completely free to do whatever I want because my body is not limiting me anymore. The plan is to take on the world.

Special Moments & Non-Scale Victories

Emma: What’s the nicest compliment you’ve received since losing weight?

Sammi: The best one is probably from my little boy the other day. When I pick him up to give him a cuddle, he can now get his legs all the way around me. He can really squeeze me and he loves it. He’s like, “Mommy, mommy, I can squeeze you now!”

It’s just the best feeling ever because I’ve never been small enough for him to do that. Since I wanted to change to never have to say no to him, that is probably the best feeling.

Emma: What’s been so far your favourite non-scale victory?

Sammi: My favourite non-scale victory has got to be how I have completely changed as a person from when I started. I’m not the same person on the inside, and that transformation will always be my favourite non-scale victory. My mind, my perspective, and my perception of myself have completely changed.

I’ve stopped getting worried because I was tied so much to a number and being successful because of a number. Now I’m just successful because of who I am and how I adapt and change and take on challenges. That’s my favourite non-scale victory because you can’t measure it. You can’t measure how much your heart’s growing, how much your soul is growing. You can’t measure fire.

Emma: If you could go back in time to when you began the plan, is there any advice that you would have given yourself?

Sammi: I would probably just say one thing: “Take your time. Take a breather if you need. You’ve got this. And just be able to see you when we get there.”

The me that started the plan knew that she could do it. She knew that she would do it. She knew that she’d make changes because there wasn’t another option. So the only thing that I would say would be, “I’ll see you when we get there.”
