Lessons from the Grand Slam Winners

The 2012 Wimbledon tennis championships have just finished, Roger Federer won the Men’s singles and Serena Williams won the Ladies singles.  They are multiple Grand Slam winners, but it hasn’t been an easy ride for them, they have both overcome much adversity to claim their titles.

Both have struggled with physical and health problems, many people thought they were both finished, but they kept the faith in themselves and through their adversity they stayed strong and determined and they both won.

If they had of listened to other people, or let their pains and struggles overwhelm they would have given up a long time ago.

Here are some snippets from reports on their wins…
Much as Serena Williams bounced back from adversity to win the women’s title, so Federer proved the critics wrong once more. The Swiss has not had to endure the physical problems faced by Williams, but in the past few years he has been written off with every “failure” to win a grand slam.
Taken from Guardian.
The 30-year-old was uncharacteristically emotional after her victory over Radwanska, her first major win since two sets of surgery on her foot and being diagnosed with a blood clot on her lung. Williams’ illness was so serious she says she ‘nearly didn’t make it’. She added: ‘It means a lot to the family. It has been two years since I ran into all that trouble and now I’m coming back. ‘Whether we win or we lose, we’re here and we’re not going anywhere. ‘People were thinking, “Can she do it again?” but now I’m winning titles. I’ve never felt better. I feel really awesome and amazing.
Taken from Daily Mail

“WINNERS ARE PEOPLE WHO NEVER QUIT”

You know the the tried and tested Hollywood Blockbuster movie formula; before the hero saves the day, he is almost down and out, you think it is all over, but he believe’s in himself and finds that last ounce of courage and determination and triumphs in the end.

If you want to achieve your goals in life, then you have to be strong, in the face of adversity, and know that great things can only happen if you do not quit.  Once you quit, you are beat, you are done.

You might fail, you might struggle, life might throw some crazy curve ball at you that just knocks you side ways.  But you have to say to yourself, I will not let this beat me.

So the next time you are struggling on your diet, always remember this is part of your story, this is part of your journey to success.

How would you answer the following questions??

Would you read a book or go and watch a movie if everything part of the story was just ok?

NO that story would be booooooooooooooooring.

If everything went plain sailing and there was no adversity and challenges?

NO. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…………..

Would a story be great if the main character give up at the first sign of adversity?

NO.  That would be a pointless story wouldn’t it?

Your life is YOUR STORY.  Always remember that the stronger you are the greater you story will be.

Make it GREAT, make it a blockbuster, be a grand slam winner in your own life story, whatever that might be.

“WHATEVER YOU ARE, BE A GOOD ONE”

On your weight loss journey, always remember that along the way, things are going to come up to try and pull you off course, invitations, events, people might say things to put you off track, life might not be fair to you, the only thing you can control is your faith in yourself and your determination to never give up.

If you have overcome adversity and triumphed in the end, please share your story below, I would love to know what you overcome to achieved your weight loss goals.
