Making a Commitment To Create a New You in 2020 and beyond…
Creating a New You isn’t a one off event. It is a life long journey that requires consistent commitment based on self love and self awareness.
Wait for all the social media posts saying that 70% of people fail at their New Years Resolutions before we even hit February.
I don’t like this language at all, all these messages that new years resolutions are a waste of time, and that people will fail anyway.
I find it all very negative and discouraging for people. It is like telling people there is no point in starting a new year with fresh enthusiasm and a healthy mindset. It is like saying – Don’t bother aiming to improve your life or health; the odds are you will fail anyway.
I do believe in new years resolutions because I believe the start of a new year is a great time to reconnect with your vision for your life and who you want to be.
And yes you can do this ANY DAY of the year, but there is something really exciting about the start of a new year and the start of a new chapter in our life.
That first page in a new journal is exciting to write on, all those empty pages just waiting to be filled. That is like the start of a new year. We are all the authors of our own life story. If you are not creating your storyline so that you are the star, then who is writing your story?
If you set a new years resolution and by February you have gone off track, I don’t believe you have failed. I just believe that you are human, and that you have bought into the conditioning that you have “failed” by not being perfect and having a few days off track.
So many of us have got into a really bad habit of beating ourselves up for “failing” and we feel so bad about not being perfect that it makes it too hard to get back on track.
The thought of this even stops some people from trying, because they “know they will fail”. If this is you, please keep reading!
This New Year join me in creating an amazing vision for your life, your health and your chosen family.
This New Year, write out all your dreams for you and your life and get emotionally connected!
What is your New You like?
What is amazing about her/him?
Remember that you only have one life, and you are the author AND the star of your story; so make sure you write a good one!
Who do you want to be?
What do you want to have?
What do you want to do?
Decide what you want and 100% commit to doing your best every day to make it happen for you.
The strongest form of self love is self discipline.
Creating your dream life and healthy body means that you need to make changes and make sacrifices and doing this is hard!
Thousands of our customers have shown, when your WHY is big enough you can find the willpower to keep going, even on the hard days.
But also know that there are going to be times when it is hard to follow through.
There are going to be days in 2020 that you will find it hard to stay disciplined. Who knows what will happen or how you will feel?
Maybe even on your hardest days you will find the self discipline and inner strength to stay true to your goals and daily commitments.
And if you don’t, then I hope you don’t beat yourself up and think you are a failure. Instead I hope you will do your best, be self aware and speak to yourself like you care about yourself.
Just imagine that if in 2020, any time you got off track with your goals; you didn’t beat yourself up or you didn’t think you were a failure.
Instead you decided to do what someone who loves themselves would do…
Speak kindly to yourself. Encourage yourself. Forgive yourself. Be self aware and set yourself up to win.
In 2020 I want you to see how quickly you can get back on track when you are your own best friend and your biggest cheerleader.
Take the time to look at what knocked you off course.
Be self aware.
What can you learn from it?
What can do you do support yourself in the future?
Take the time to reflect and have the courage to take action to make changes that support you.
Self love & Self Awareness both take courage.
Many times you will realise, that instead of beating yourself up, that what you need to do is take control of your life and look after yourself by doing something like;
- say NO to someone or something in the future
- have an honest conversation with someone
- change your perspective about a situation
- put boundaries in place with someone or something
- make a decision to let go of something that is holding you back (read my blog post on this here)
- take control of your time and your schedule not to over commit
- prioritise yourself and your health over other requirements
- schedule in time for your relaxation
- not caring what other people think
Make 2020 the year that you stop beating yourself up for going off track and instead…
Make 2020 the year that you become your own best friend and set yourself up to win.
There are going to be times in 2020 when your commitment waivers, when your self discipline goes out the window, and you fall off the wagon.
All of these moments are temporary, it is our reaction to these moments that will define our year and how we feel about ourselves.
Take each of these moments as feedback on what you need to change to support and love yourself more.
In 2020, commit to giving up beating yourself up when you are not perfect. Yesterday my blog was about giving up one negative thing every month in 2020. I hope that you will decide to give up “beating yourself up” in January 2020.
Instead commit to encouraging yourself to be, and to do your best every day. Commit to taking control of your life, set your environment & schedule up to support you, and set yourself up to win.
How good would you be feeling one year from now on December 31st 2020 if you decided to be your own best friend this year?
Love,
Julz xox
