LESSON #1 – “If you change how you look at things the things you look at change”

[box size=”large” style=”rounded”]I am going to be 39 on the 30th November.  I am sharing with you 39 lessons I have learned in 39 years, with one lesson a day for the 39 days before my 39th birthday! Phew! 🙂 You can read the opening post and see an index to all the 39 life lessons HERE.  I hope you enjoy reading these life lessons and please do leave me a comment as I will be personally replying to all comments! Thank you for sharing this journey with me.[/box]

change

When you come across a situation that upsets you, the best way to change how you feel about it, is to change how you look at it.

When you look at something from a different perspective, it changes everything, how you feel, your happiness, your confidence, your mood… and the circumstances are completely the same, the only thing that changes was your perspective of it.

I think this is very relevant to total food replacement dieting.

When you see your packs for the month sitting in front of you – you can either think…

a.) How miserable, I am going to only eat this food for the next month, I want to die. Where is the number for the takeaway? Frig this for a mission, I will never be able to lose weight. #igiveup #chubsterforlife

or you can think

b.) Imagine, that when I get to the end of this box I am going to be a size smaller, feeling healthier and looking fab!  No grocery shopping, no cooking, this is going to be easy! I am buzzing!  I can’t wait to break the bad habits that have been holding me back for so long.  Bring on ketosis baby! Beep Beep! #BOOM!

How do you look at your diet?

I can guarantee you when you are flying on the diet – your thoughts are positive about the plan and how it can create exciting changes for you and how easy it is!

I can also guarantee you that when it is hard for you to do the plan that you are focusing more on what you have to give up than what you will gain, you look at the packs as a prison rather than your fast pass to being slim and healthy.

The packs, the plan, they stay the same.

What changes is how you look at it.

So today I hope that you will make a conscious effort to keep your mind and thoughts positive, this is something YOU CAN DO, it can take practice, but it gets easier and easier the more you do it.

If you want to succeed on the new you plan total food replacement, then make the decision to look at the plan as a fast pass to your slim, healthy, happy life.To get you to where you want to be in as short as time as possible, and all the exciting opportunities that will come from you feeling proud of how you look and feel.

I look forward to reading your comments on this topic and how you have noticed this in your life!  I will be replying to all your comments 🙂

Absolutely brilliant way of looking at it, I shall remind myself of it everyday. I am even taking a snap shot of what you have just wrote and I’m going to look at it any time I may feel down or weak. Xxx

fantastic post – you are so right, it has taken me doing the TFR to finally change my mindset have been struggling for many years trying to lose weight, got to my heaviest I have ever been and the most unhappy, and considering everything I have to deal with on a day to day basis with my son who has special needs I have had a lot of unhappy times – for the first time in so long I have finally felt positive about my weight loss journey and I love the support and friendship that comes with the New You Plan – I can actually see me getting to goal.

      many thanks

I actually find the packs easier than having to plan meals and it fits my busy life style! As long as I remember to take my packs with me I’m good to go 🙂

I see the packs as the fuel I need to make my body function however it does help that they taste good!
I love the cookie bar and the wafers as my treat!

It’s definatey mind set, as even if I know I am going out for a family meal etc now, I already look at what I could have that will keep me in ketosis.

For me at the moment even if I have a bad day, it’s about bouncing back and learning from why I blipped etc.

I will do it this time :)) xxxx

Great blog Julie-Ann. I have also learned this lesson and since thinking this way I don’t find the plan hard to stick to. I am feeling my weight loss on a weekly basis and it feels great. Thanks to New You.

Hi Julie Ann, you look fab in the pic. Like you I have been through some very tough challenges in past couple of years but I believe God sends those challenges for a reason and we come out the other end a lot stronger and know how to appreciate life and not waste a moment of it. I believe in the power of positive thinking which is very close to the concept you are promoting today and Zi also believe and have experienced first hand the power of creative visualisation.
Diet going well and I am enjoying it. Cheers

Hi Maura 🙂 Oh I would love to have a cup of coffee with you some day! I love visualisation, it is very powerful! I will be covering it in one of my lessons as it has been so important to me! Are you coming to the party? xx

Hi Julz, loved reading your blog, it was so true to life! The first time I tried new you, I looked at it as you described in scenario A. Obviously something has clicked with me this time and I am thinking the same as you describe in scenario B. I am just taking one day at a time, every successful day adds up and I am enjoying great success so far, I know I will reach goal this time and I can’t wait!!! Thanks for your blog, it really is inspirational, looking forward to tomorrow’s as well. Frances xxx

Thank you Frances! I do think it is amazing how everything changes when we change how we look at things! It is so empowering when you realise we hold all the power in life! It is up to us to own our power and make it work for us and not against us! Thank you so much for your comment and support 🙂

You are sooooo right.. Thing is I say all this for others and spread myself so thinly (unfortunately not my size lol ) that I don’t practice what I preach. I am such a positive and motivational person… For everyone else.. I leave nothing for myself.. So I’m hanging in there for the workshop so I can use it to springboard myself into this frame of mind .. For me :-))

      • Author gravatar

Oh Karen! You are going to love the new project we are working on for the new year…

“Self care is not selfish!” is one of the modules.

Why wait to the workshop? Why not just join me on the challenge and for the next 38 days practice #selfcare 🙂 And then tell me how you got on at the workshop and what you learned about yourself? xxx

      • Author gravatar

        Thank you Rachel 🙂

Yes when you really GET THIS, it changes everything, as you realise that you have the power over everything in your life. It is up to us to own it and make it work for us and not against us xx

    • Author gravatar

Sorry I’m so late to start reading your posts Julie wanted to make sure it was at a time where I could really focus on it .
It’s taken me ages to get it but think it’s finally starting to click. I loved doing plan on my good days but still missed certain foods that would quickly lead me into a down ward spiral. “Well it’s just not fair that I couldn’t have such and such ” esp when everyone else arround me was enjoying things.
I’m the type of person that even though I order a healthy meal would have to pinch from other peoples plates just to have one !
I working on it but now I see I will have those things again soon and hopefully eat them on my terms.
So instead of feeling deprived I’m starting to feel impowered !
It’s all really down to how we look at it x
