After losing an incredible 10 stone with The New You Plan, Lucy is proving that it’s not just about hitting a number on the scales – it’s about building a lifestyle that lasts. Starting with 6st 7lbs lost on Total Food Replacement and continuing her journey on our Switch plan with another 3st 7lbs gone, Lucy’s transformation is both physical and deeply personal.

Now stronger, fitter and more in tune with her body than ever, she shares how she’s finally broken the cycle of dieting and bingeing, found her balance and discovered a ‘new normal’ that’s all about strength, self-belief and sustainable change.

Lucy, how long have you been maintaining your weight loss?

I’m not really sure how to answer this as I am still losing weight, just VERY VERY slowly now so not sure if it counts as maintenance? I started New You Plan in September 2023, lost 6st 7lb stone in 6 months on Total Food Replacement and since then have mainly been on Switch with another 3st 7lbs loss. I’ve just hit a total loss of 10 stone! It’s actually a really weird feeling as that’s more than some of my friends weigh and I certainly couldn’t carry them around all day but that was what I was doing before!

What were the biggest mental shifts you had to make during that transition?

I’ve always been very all or nothing when it comes to food – so I would be fully committed to meal replacements but then as soon as I went back to real food, the bingeing would return. By following Switch, I finally feel like I’ve broken that cycle now.

What has maintaining taught you about your relationship with food and your body?

I can now have a biscuit, sweet, or meal out without feeling like I’ve “ruined” the diet and throwing in the towel. I’m also much more in tune with my body and notice when something makes me feel bloated or uncomfortable.

What New You Plan meals or snacks still feel like staples in your routine?

I love the Strawberry and White Chocolate Bars – and have them in the morning before I go to the gym. I’ve never been a breakfast person so they are perfect for on the go. Chocolate Shakes blended with ice are also a favourite! Because I work out so much, I really focus on protein too.

Have you found a new normal that works for you long term?

Absolutely – 2025 for me has been focussing on fitness and strength rather than focussing on losing weight (which has still happened as a result). I go to the gym 3-5 times a week, do weightlifting and running. Because it’s all part of my routine now it’s just become my new way of life and I love it. The exercise has also given me some much needed “me” time. I also think that coming so far gives me all the motivation I need to keep going. Although I’ve dieted on and off all my life and at times lost a fairly significant amount of weight, I’ve never lost close to the amount I’ve lost this time around and there is absolutely no way I’m letting all this hard work go to waste!

What’s the nicest compliment you’ve received since maintaining your loss?

Oooh that’s hard, I’ve had lots of people saying how well I look and some people say I look like a different person. The one that makes me laugh is when people say I’m skinny! (I’m definitely not but it’s still mind boggling to be referred to in that way!)

If you could speak to someone about to finish the plan, what would you tell them?

Honestly just have faith in yourself. I have dieted so many times in my life but never broken the cycle of dieting / bingeing. I finally feel like I’ve done it which 2 years ago I didn’t think was possible!

How long did it take you before going into maintenance?

I did 6 months of Total Food Replacement, then I’d be honest and say I had a few months of trying to get back in the zone but failing. But then in September 2024 (so a year after starting) I fully embraced Switch instead of trying to be back on TFR and that has actually been the game changer for me. I don’t feel deprived as I can have whatever I want but in moderation. This has really been what I credit with the results because I’ve never been able to eat “normally” before. It was either cutting out everything…… or eating everything. Now I can have whatever I like, I understand that I don’t need to eat EVERYTHING!
