How Rebecca Lost 3st (& won £3000) with The New You Plan

Rebecca’s mental health was at an all-time low. She felt drained, sluggish and bloated and her weight was impacting on a slipped disk in her back, which meant she was taking prescribed painkillers. But it was her mental health that she was really worried about, especially as it had never been an issue before.

She recalls how she felt at the time: “So for instance, me and my family were planning to go out somewhere for the day or to an event, a wedding maybe, I was so self-conscious and I was thinking, I shouldn’t be feeling like this. This is ridiculous. I’ve never struggled with my mental health. I’d have days where I’d just be really moody, which I’ve never been like. And it is horrendous. So I knew I had to do something about it to try and change myself and just how I felt.”


Rebecca knew she had to do something about it. Following a diagnosis of Graves disease, she had her thyroid removed, which led to her putting on weight quickly.
She tried exercising and watching what she was eating, which led to her losing a stone. But like so many people with her condition, she got to the point were the scales weren’t moving.

“Everyone was saying to me then, from their experience with the condition I’ve got, that I wouldn’t lose anymore weight. I had hit that point where I couldn’t, and I was trying my hardest with everything.”

Luckily, a friend at work was having great success with The New You Plan. Intrigued by how straightforward the plan sounded, and desperate to see those scales move, Rebecca decided to give it a go.

“I feel like you become too engrossed in counting different things on the back of food. Whereas The New You Plan was just so much easier. You have your four packs a day and that’s it. And then you can have your snack allowance if you wanted that. So it was nice not having to worry about looking and counting different calories or sugar, fats, whatever. I find it really easy. I wish I’d just done that from the beginning.”

“Since losing 3 stone, I’m feeling much better. I don’t get pain in my back half as much, so I don’t even need to take the pain killers that I was prescribed. I don’t get acid reflux anymore, whereas I’d get that daily, to the point where it would make me sick.

And then my mental health, I think that’s got to be the biggest one because, I’d never suffered with mental health before, but now I feel just so much happier. I feel I can do more with my family, whereas before I felt like I couldn’t be bothered as I was too tired. I didn’t want to go out and get dressed for the day. But now I look forward to it. I’m probably the one who’s arranging it, to be fair.”

While friends and work colleagues are always commenting on how amazing she looks, it was a compliment from her mum, which has meant the most to her.

“When my mum said I was back to my happy old self, that was the nicest compliment I had because she’d noticed the improvement in my mental health as well. It wasn’t necessarily just the weight.”
