Week 27: The New You Plan Has Changed My Life

27 weeks into her New You Plan journey, customer Hele shares why she believes her life has completely changed. Plus, she offers her welcome advice for not just getting started but staying on track to ensure your weight loss journey is a success, just like hers.

All the holidays this year are behind me now.

My last holiday was a more conscious approach to a holiday. I did have my packs with me and I decided to replace as many meals as I could with them.

I felt good. I got to see my family and have a good time with them. We swam every day, so when anything didn’t go as planned diet wise, I knew I had to walk more and swim as much as possible.

Although my holidays weren’t as good as they maybe should had been diet wise, all the feedback I got from my friends and family was absolutely amazing. I got to see many people who saw me at my biggest. The compliments just kept on coming. Because Estonians are quite modest with giving compliments, in many cases I saw their reaction when seeing me, without them saying anything. But that was enough for me. It made me smile. Of course my close friends weren’t holding anything back and that really cheered me up.

New You Plan

I am so much more confident wearing different clothes. I didn’t think about having my arms hidden. I didn’t have to pull my tummy in the whole time and to watch how I sit so I wouldn’t look too big. No – I felt really free and comfortable in my own skin. And that is something that hasn’t happened to me for a long time.

The other thing that I noticed and in fact, I’ve known for a few months now, is that I have so much more energy. I can walk longer, I can do more. I am a whole new person already.

My meals were very different over the holiday. Some days I had what everyone else had and made peace with that. But also because I had my packs with me, I tried to match what they ate. So when we had, pasta, I made myself Pasta Carbonara. When they made pancakes, I made my own pancakes. The same worked for porridge and snacks too. I had my favourite salt and vinegar crisps and couple of bars with me.

I did gain a few pounds over the holiday but I am very optimistic to see the results after my first week back on TFR. I think the chances are quite good, because I have usually lost more than that on my first week back.

New You Plan

I couldn’t be more excited to be back and following my dreams – because now it is so close already. It is the last phase of my diet. I have 1.5 to 2 stone to lose. If everything goes as planned, I should be celebrating reaching my goal next month. I predict it will take me about 6 to 8 weeks. The reason why I have set this target is that I acknowledge that my body is constantly changing and even though the ideal weight for my height is as far as 2 stone away, I think I will have to follow my gut and see how I feel after 1.5 stone. It’s important to listen to our bodies and recognise how we are feeling.

I started my journey 6 months ago. I haven’t been on TFR the whole time. I had a two week break after 12 weeks and then now – almost a whole month when on holidays.

During the 5 months on TFR I lost 5st 9lbs. When I started I weighed 17st 10lbs. I felt like I was trapped in someone else’s body. It was the heaviest I have ever been. I also started having some health issues . My joints hurt really bad and getting up in the morning had become a painful task. I didn’t have many choices when it came to clothes. So I bought only long and very wide tunic dresses to cover myself up and feel as comfortable as I could. I didn’t want to make much effort, because I didn’t feel good in my body – at all.

I found New You through a good friend of mine and in a way the time was right for me. I made a huge change in my life – I moved abroad. Starting over again, I felt that time was right to do something about my weight as well. It has been the lighthouse for me. At times when everything seemed to be out of my control, the diet has been something I feel I have control over – something that ‘works’ and goes as I want.

I am a new person today.

Although I haven’t reached my goal yet, one thing to remember is we think that getting to our goal is the thing that makes us happy, but actually forming the happier person begins on the day you make the decision and start reaching for the goal. As soon as you start this plan, you are making a commitment to be happier. And as each pound drops off, you become happier. It isn’t just about the end goal – it’s the entire process and changing from the inside out. Every day I have committed to my weight loss, has made me more cheerful, more active, happier and absolutely more confident.

If you are thinking of starting to your journey, if you have a need or wish to lose weight, don’t wait for the right moment – the moment is now.

One thing that I did was that I didn’t think too much. I just knew I would find a hundred reasons for postponing the start date, telling myself why I cannot do it. So I just started one morning. Instead of my usual breakfast, I had a New You pack and then I moved on from there – one meal at a time. I can’t look too far in the future – like right now even – I cannot think about the 2 stone that I have to lose. It’s too unreal right now. So I concentrate on TODAY and only being 100% TODAY… and tomorrow, I will do the same. Day by day, sticking to the plan you will reach to your goal faster than you ever expected from any diet. The effort really pays off!

There is still four months left in this year. I know from my own experience that you can lose at least 4 stone over that time. If you just decide you can. So just imagine yourself at New Year’s Eve, wearing your favourite piece of clothing and feeling absolutely amazing! It’s something to make an effort for, isn’t it?!
