Team Tasha: 33.2lbs lost and counting!*

For those of you who do not know me, my name is Tasha Hynes! I’m a bit of a nutter, I am 23 years old and I have made it to week 8 on the New you Plan, Yayyyyyyyy! In total I have lost 33.2lbs! I’m so excited and I feel amazing. I have started to swim again and it feels so fricking good to do exercise again!

I love helping people and I aim to try and inspire others on my weight loss journey and I know everyone is different but this specific thing has been bothering me. I want everyone to embrace the NEW YOU!

Last week I asked a question: “When you look in a mirror what do you do?”

The majority of people answered ‘CRINGE’ or ‘AVOID IT AND WALK ON’.

Do you know what I think about those answers… it’s silly.

I believe that looking at yourself in the mirror during your weight loss journey is very very important! It might 5986755723_fc93d389cc_osound really stupid to you but it works for me. Talk to the fat, be real and be honest. Tell yourself what you don’t like, point at it, wobble it, and grab it. You may cringe or feel sad when you are looking at it but it is shrinking, you need to be proud of the change you are making. No one else can do it for you, you have to do it. So take yourself off to the bathroom or your bedroom and talk to the fat!

I used to hate looking in the mirror. All I could see was this disproportioned fat pat person. I couldn’t believe what I had become – I couldn’t believe that I let myself get to that point! My love handles and belly hung over the top of my jeans, I had the dreaded ‘MUFFIN TOP’. I wore loose tops and jumpers to try and hide it. I will let you in on a little secret! I had a pair of jeans that I bought in a size 16, which was my size at the time. I put them on at the beginning of March and I wore them all day. I was sooooo uncomfortable. When I got home and finally took them off, they had actually bruised my belly!!! My stomach was purple and I was in so much pain. That’s when I decided, NO I am not doing this anymore and I started New You. 7 weeks done the line and they fall down!

tasha swimAs I mentioned above, I have started swimming again. I went swimming last Thursday morning before work AND straight after work again! I am aiming to go swimming 3-4 times a week. I also love walking and now that the lighter nights are coming in I am able to go walking a bit further to try and get my body back to its normal fit self. It’s going to take time and effort but I am so determined to do this for me!
