For 40-year-old Stefania Rossetti, food has always been a big part of her life. Coming from a big South African/Italian family, food plays an important role, joking that they “don’t eat to live, they live to eat!” Although she previously lost weight, looking after two children, a full-time job and a love for food slowly saw it creep back on. Here, she reveals how she lost 3 stone* thanks to The New You Plan!
Stefania, what do you think led to your weight gain?
I do think a lot was psychological. My head was not in the right place. I always had a problem with my weight and having an underactive thyroid did not help much. I would start a diet and then I lost my motivation after a short period and would fall back into the same bad habits.
How did you feel before you started the plan?
I was tired all the time, had no motivation and often felt very depressed.
When did you make the decision to take control of your weight?
I had just turned 40 in mid-January and realised that I did not want to be 40 and fat! I had a work colleague’s 30th wedding anniversary coming up and the dress I was planning to wear looked dreadful! I then decided that I needed to make a change NOW! I went online and started looking at keto diets but I knew I would not be able to do it with food alone. I wanted to lose 5 stone and needed a good kick start and that is when I found The New You Plan.
How did you hear about The New You Plan?
I found New You in a Google search. I went onto the website and read about everyone’s fantastic results and how the plan had helped them. Looking at how it had changed each and every one for the positive, got me so motivated. I thought if they can do this then so can I!
Tell us about your journey to a new you!
I followed Fast Focus (TFR) for the first 8 weeks but have been doing Fast Focus Monday to Friday and then Family Focus on the weekends as I find that works better for me and then I don’t miss food that much. Plus, one ‘normal’ meal a day on a weekend becomes something exciting to look forward to.
Being at work all day, Fast Focus works great as I have drawer filled with a variety of meals and I can just pick one and don’t have to worry about being tempted to eat an unhealthy meal.
I’m pleased to say that in 4 months I have lost 3 stone 1lb (20kgs) and dropped 2 dress sizes.
How has the support from The New You team helped you?
The support is fantastic. There is always someone to help or just keep you motivated, even when it is while helping someone else.
Which meals are your favourite?
I love the simplicity of the Soups – they are quick and easy and are mostly the meals I eat at work. The Bars are out of this world yummy! They help keep my sweet tooth at bay on the days I need that bit of chocolate in my life. The Vegetable Chilli, Noodle Nosh and Chicken Curry make you forget you are on a TFR meal plan. Oh and not to forget those amazing Pancakes and Brownies and delicious Shakes when you need something quick on the run! “Diet! What diet?” is all I can really say!
I have never been a breakfast person. I prefer to have my first meal at around 11ish. I would either have Porridge or Soup. I have Bar at around 4pm then at 7pm I have Noodle Nosh or Vegetable Chilli followed by either a Shake, Pancake or Brownie.
Would you recommend joining Secret Slimmers?
Absolutely! It is a must! Everyone in the group is so supportive of each other. That is my go-to place throughout the day that keeps me motivated and has stopped me from giving up. When you are feeling low they lift you up. They rejoice in your successes and help you through your failures. It is one of the most amazing support groups filled with real people who are all on their own journeys.
I also can’t recommend joining the challenges highly enough. I did and it helped me stay focused on my next mini goal so that I can eventually get to my final goal.
How do you feel since losing weight?
I am excited that I have come this far and motivated to go further. I’ve lost 3 stone and 2 dress sizes and I would like to get to 11 stone so I still have 2 stone to go. I am happy in my own skin. I have so much energy and I feel more positive about everything

“You look great! You must be so proud of yourself.” – I am!
How has your mindset changed?
I have always had a good understanding of food but have never had the discipline or the motivation or been in the right mindset to actually apply it to my life. Since starting The New You Plan I feel like my body and my mind has been reset and I’m now more positive and have the right motivation I have needed to apply what I know to my life.
What advice would you offer anyone considering starting their New You journey?
I would say do it…you have nothing to lose but the weight. Clear out your cupboards, get rid of all the food that would tempt you to fall back into old habits. Get a food tracker app like My Fitness Pal or write down everything you eat. After a while you will think twice before you eat something bad versus some nutritious. Once you join get into the Facebook Secret Slimmers group. You can’t go wrong with this plan – it does works!
And for anyone currently on plan?
I would say “What are you waiting for?” My thinking when I started was if I start today then I will be one day closer to my goal. You need to remember it is a journey and it is your journey. I for one am glad I started mine and I am grateful for all the support I have had along the way.
