New You Plan Founder Julz shares her 11 personal TFR tips to help you stay 100% focused on your weight loss journey.
1) Take it a day at a time
It is important not to think too far ahead and just focus on today. You can do one day. You just need to focus on getting through today. Hour at a time if you need to. But just take it a day at a time.
2) Don’t change your mood with food
When you feel tempted to cheat on your diet ask yourself: “Is it because I want to change how I feel?” More than likely the answer will be Yes. If you REALLY want to get and stay slim this is a key skill you need to BUILD. You need to learn how to change how you feel without turning to food. Go for walk, have a bath, read a book, phone a friend or listen to your favourite play list.
3) Create a vision board
Why do you want to be slim? What does this mean to you? Create a vision board, of pictures that inspire you, clothes you would love to wear, a holiday you would love to go on, people you love, words and quotes that lift you. Put this picture somewhere you can see it everyday. You could even make this with an app on your phone and make it your screen saver.
4) Love Yourself
Positive self talk and daily rituals of self love are sooo important. The more you love yourself and look after yourself the easier it will be for you to do the diet, as you will feel congruent in all of your actions, and your diet will be an empowering experience. Talk to yourself in a positive empowering way, encourage yourself, celebrate your wins, and make time to relax and treat yourself.
5) Focus on the process
The process is simple: 4 meals + 4 litres of water… it is that simple. Choose the meals you enjoy the most. When you are having the meal, reaffirm in your mind how much you enjoy it. Space your water out throughout the day. Plan your meals for the day the night before. The more you focus on the process and keep it simple in your mind the easier it will become and momentum will build. The results will follow if the process is followed correctly. Don’t try to cheat the process, as you will only cheat yourself. You can do this!
6) Surround yourself with inspiring people
You become the average of the people you spend most of your time with. That is why I love to spend time in our Secret Slimmers & Momentum Maintainers Facebook groups, as the people in our groups are so inspiring. Lots of people in our groups have lost 5, 6, 7 stone…. just seeing their before and after photos inspires me to keep going.
Plus, we have an amazing section on our website which is packed full of loads of customer interviews. Whatever your weight loss goal, you will find a customer who lost a similar amount.
7) Track your progress
Make sure you use an app to track not just how much weight you have lost, but also your inches. Check out our favourite weight loss apps here.
8) Keep trying on clothes
Sometimes the scales don’t seem to move as fast as we want them to! It is crucial that every 10 to 14 days you try on clothes, as you will see and feel the difference.
9) Live with an attitude of gratitude
I can honestly say this is the one thing that helps me to succeed with my diet and my work.
I love life, the simple things, the rain, the cup of tea my husband makes me, the friends I have, my family. When you feel like everything is a blessing, you just feel better about yourself and about life in general.
I feel gratitude that I can take 4 simple meal packs and lose weight without feeling hungry! That is pretty amazing, and I am so glad that meal replacements work for me as I know I would struggle to lose weight with an ordinary conventional food healthy eating plan.
10) Take photos of your progress
Every week when you weigh in, make a point of taking a full length photo of yourself. You can get a family member to do it or take a selfie in the mirror. This will encourage you to keep going.
Nearly all of our success stories have so many photos to give us of their weight loss journey. Why do you think that is??? Because taking photos is motivating, so do it, and then you can be a success story too! Even if you don’t think you will never show a single person your photos, take them for YOU.
11) Believe in yourself
You really need to believe in you. You just have to believe in yourself. Yes life can be hard at times, and sometimes it can feel like everything is getting on top of you and that you just cannot do the diet right now.
But you can! You really can. Day at a time, positive self talk, follow the process, just do all of the steps above and day by day your confidence will grow. Soon you will be buzzing!!
