The difference between your body this week and next week is what you do for the next 7 days! We all probably all guilty of prolonging the start of our diet, putting it off until tomorrow, or Monday, or next week or next month. But often tomorrow never comes, and neither does Monday, or next week or next month.
The key to getting started on your diet is to commit to just 7 little days. Let’s face it, a week is really short and at the end of it you could have more energy, increased mobility, feel less bloated, have los weight. Many of our customers lose 7lbs in their first week alone! It takes just 7 days to achieve this and after great results, you’ll be feeling motivated to carry on! Here are our 7 ways to help you commit to just 7 days:
1. Tell Everyone
We know this sounds horrific. Our weight is so personal but it really will make you accountable. Tell your close friends and family as this will then help with any awkwardness if you receive any social invites. You do not need to go into details about the diet – all you need to say to them is: “I need to do this for myself and I would really appreciate your support.”
2. Make A Plan
Without a plan you won’t succeed! For instance, if you plan a trip, you decide on the destination, you make the relevant bookings, you go on the trip. It’s exactly the same for planning a diet. How much weight are you going to lose? How long do you think it will take you? How much exercise are you going to commit to per week? Fail to plan and you are planning to fail!
3. Change Your Mindset
You will need to adjust your mindset. No more trying! You are either going to do this or you are not. You need to think: “I can and I will do this”. Saying: “I will give it a go” is just not good enough. Turn that negative mindset around to a positive way of speaking to yourself. You are going to do this and you are going to do this for yourself!
4. Write Down Your Goals
Set realistic goals, reward yourself. Setting these small goals will hinder diet burnout.
5. Clean Out The cupboards
Get rid of all the junk food in your cupboards and fridge to avoid any temptation in moments of weakness. Give the food to neighbours or a food bank. As hard as this may be, it has to be done!
6. Set A Deadline
Have a deadline and commit to it. Take it seriously. Perhaps even schedule a trip or event near or around your deadline. Make it real, make it important and make it count. When you announce that you are going on a diet, tell your friends and family your time scale. Yes, this is serious amounts of accountability for yourself.
7. Make No Exceptions
“I’ve got a wedding this weekend, so there’s no point in starting the diet today.” “I feel so exhausted today, I will start tomorrow.” There are NO exceptions – these are nothing but excuses. If you make just one exception you will continue to make more. Exceptions kill all progress and any hope for successful weight loss.
