This is the best diet mindset tip I know… Dieting is SO MUCH about mindset. Achieving any big goal is all about mindset…

Focusing on the worst thing that can happen if you don’t take action will make taking action seem insignificant and a no brainer – trust me!

When you are on your weight loss journey you need to think worst case scenario. What is YOUR worst case scenario?

  • What are your biggest fears about piling on more and more weight?
  • Are you worried you might die?
  • Are you worried about getting diabetes or other obesity related illnesses?
  • Are you worried you might not be able to have any children?
  • Are you worried you will never find true love because you have no confidence and don’t like to go out?

Fears are very personal. Everyone will have their own unique fears related to their own unique circumstances. Get REALLY CLEAR and spend some time imaging what your future will be like. If you don’t take control of your weight and you continue to pile on the pounds every year, where will you end up? Really get a clear picture in your head of where you could end up if you don’t take action about your weight problem.

This picture in your mind should be really depressing. It should be the fear that drives you not to go down the road that can take you to this place.

To further this diet mindset tip and make it even more effective think BEST CASE SCENARIO.

So now you have REALLY imagined how bad things can get if you don’t lose weight, spend some time REALLY FOCUSING on what could be the best things that could happen if you do lose weight?

How could your life change if you lose weight?

  • How will you look and feel everyday?
  • What health, energy and fitness levels would you enjoy everyday?
  • What would you be wearing?
  • What will you do doing every day?
  • What dreams would you have the confidence to achieve?
  • Who could you care for and help?
  • Where would you go?
  • What about your family and loved ones?

Get really clear on how amazing things could be if you do take control of your weight. Paint the brightest most beautiful picture in your mind’s eye. And remember… “If you can dream it, you can do it”.

So the next time you feel like “Oh I really don’t want to have shake today”  when everyone in work is ordering their fat filled baguette for lunch… don’t think you are choosing a shake over a baguette.

You are choosing your BEST SCENARIO over your WORST SCENARIO.

You are choosing your dreams over your worst fears. Once you build this habit of how to think into every decision you will feel so empowered, because the more decisions you make that reaffirm to you that you can take control, you can change, you can decide what direction you want your life to go in, the more you will like and love yourself.

When you use this diet mindset tip and really make this the basis of all your decisions about your health and diet, both when on TFR and when you are following your maintenance plan, you will find that it makes the choice of choosing what is BEST FOR YOU the easy choice.

Today, make sure all the choices you make are LOVING YOURSELF… and bringing you closer to where you want to be, and where you DESERVE to be. Your future is yours to be written.       Hi Julz – love this blog post, thank you! Excellent idea to help everyone focus their mindset, imagining scenarios, writing them down and then believing really is effective.

      Im right there with you in empathy with anti blood clot injections these past few days – but the nurses do it for me and I still don’t like it. I think you’re great to be helping us so much when you’re going through so much yourself.

      Hey Jules, I love today’s blog. Great food for thought there. Even though I’ve often said those things to myself in the past to try and spur myself on, they’ve never really sunk in because I would continue to self destruct, and pile on weight, that was until I joined New You :0) Joining NY has been one of the best decisions I’ve made this year. I’ve reached my first goal and am now on the road to achieving my second goal. This month’s challenge is really helping me and your blog this morning has given me the extra kick up the backside that I’ve needed. So thank you all at NY.       Beautiful Blog Julie Ann 🙂 Worse Case SCENARIO Versus Best Case SCENARIO .. I love it!!! My worse case scenario is that my weight stops me from eventually having children 🙁 I would hate that… my best case SCENARIO is that when the time is right I get married, have children and am able to run around and play with them 🙁
      I also have a genuine fear of my weight affecting my health in general.. like diabetes etc.,

      Loved today’s post, you are so right Julz – succeeding in the diet (and everything else) is all based on mindset!
      I find really painting a picture of myself at my goal in my head gets me so excited that it is almost a joy to stick to the diet, know that 100% for sure I am taking the right steps to reach that magical place… and soon!

      July, this is fantastically motivating! I heard a psychiatrist on the radio a good while ago and have tried it in life. I never tried it with weight loss though and think its a fantastic idea, THANK YOU!!!

      Just back from the vibro gym where the owner has admitted to being a FATTIST lol…It has annoyed me in the past that people look at your SIZE and pass judgement on you….We’ve all put weight on for one reason or another and I don’t like the sterotype ….as she said today ” They must just stuff the food in and never move themselves”…OH…” and you’ve lost weight before….will you not just pile it back on again”..I KNOW this time I am in the correct mindset….and spent 20 mins telling her all about Juli-Ann the team…my SS Familia….and how THIS time I GET IT….It’s MY body…MY responsiblity to get healthier…ME who will shorten my life…not my heart…but what I am doing to it….Looking forward to never having negative looks or comments about my appearance…EVER again…..been there….done that… Love this plan…and YES WE ARE going to do it….xxx

      Great inspirational blog thank you!

      I did those injections too but mine were twice a day for a year and so worth it. I had a stroke when 5 weeks pregnant and ended in ICU. I then became a very high risk pregnancy. I had a fear of needles but conquered and became an expert at self injecting. Was all worth it as my daughter who is now 7 is a happy and healthy princess. Wish you all the best.
